A harrowing video from an electrical appliance repair shop in Lopburi in central Thailand on Facebook showed a little girl hide in a fridge.

She was unable to get out, reported Sanook.

Her parents can be seen frantically looking for her and luckily she is soon found before she suffocates.

The owner of the shop - Surachai Service - slammed the parents and told other parents to take a good look at themselves and face up to their responsibilities.

"Are you going to blame yourself or me if your child dies?" he said.

He said that this was not the first time that negligent parents had ignored their children and something like this had happened at his service shop.

He added facetiously: "Why not just let them play with plugs and knives?"

Thaivisa notes that most modern fridges are easily opened from the inside but that death from suffocation could occur if a child did not exit quickly.

Formerly many children used to die in old and abandoned fridges when they were unable to get out.

Very slim looking fridges. A sixpack would probably use up two shelves on those..

Irresponsible parenting in Thailand, ha,ha don't make me laugh. Riding motorbikes without helmets, child restraints in motor vehicles. Irresponsible parenting, Irresponsible country. Life is cheap in Thailand.

So lucky they found their daughter alive. Then they went home on their motorbike, mom dad and daughter, with no helmets.

As much as i agree, children are children into everything,  as the norm in Thailand the Parents are trying to earn a living.

The video showing the girl going into the fridge and then being found by the mother was 39 seconds long.  Judging by the woman's demeanour I think "frantically" looking for her is a bit of a stretch, even for sensationalist reporting.

True, everything was completely under control, Mum knew where to look in the age-old game hide and seek. "mum I'm in the fridge come find me"  ????

Maybe they should fill the fridges on display so kids can't get inside?

Forget about (some) Thai parents worrying about their kids’ safety. Riding the motorcycle with children without helmets, throwing the kids in back of the “bed” of Dad’s pickup while zooming down the highway, allowing the child to stand freely inside the grocery cart, teaching them about safety around the home... appliance stores are a great place for them to run around ( they should play “Hide & Go Seek”) at IKEA.

You are right. I always argue with my missus when she let our 14 years old step son ride her motorcycle. She said she started riding when she was 11. How about teaching a kid what right or wrong. Many wrongs don't make it right... This is the way people think in here. They don't educate their kids, just spoiling them and never let them grow and learn. I wonder if this has something to do with the culture.

I don't think the parents allowed her to hide in there I think she got in there herself.

The frantic mother then calmly walks away from her daughter once out of the fridge.

She supposed to carry the kid on her hip all day? Get a leash?

f ik easy to tie the doors of a fridge so toddlers few customers dont go in!

and i always wonder why those fridge makers dont place a mechanism to open the fridges from onside just in case as many children die in fridges around the globe with similar incidents. fridge makers should be responsible for such deaths.

The video of the Thai mom showed she wasn’t too upset or alarmed over the missing kid. Once she casually opened the door, she just casually walked in front of her kid as if it was normal. If that was my kid, she would have gotten a lecture from me then I would hold her hand in the store. (Different strokes for different folks...)
