Sick Computer suggestions

Featured Replies

Apologies I can use for work etc. When there’s problem I’m clueless. Dell desktop got the message as picture

shows. Tries to fix it and got a message hardsrive not installed. Any suggestions to fix it would be appreciated.

A lot of work on it so hopefully can fix it...

Thanks

Turn it off and then restart it while tapping the f8 key to start in safe mode. See what happens then

Thanks will let you know

Check that the power and data connections to the hard drive are solid - remove and reinsert. If available try replacing with new cables.

Also make sure no keys on the keyboard are stuck - this situation can cause issues.

It's the Win10 incarnation of the "good old" BSOD (blue screen of death).

Every Windows user is familiar with :whistling:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death

The interesting info would be the "Stop Code" at the bottom of the screen.

Can't read it on the picture.

Or is it "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED"?

Is the laptop now in a dead-loop?

Error occurs immediately after each restart?

Laptops often die from overheating.

Try 2 Panadol and a good sleep, that might fix it!

Take both memory cards out ( a piece of cake) and clean the contacts with an eraser.

Remove the two screws that hold the HD and take it out and reinsert it properly that you can feel that it's attached.

If the blue screen continues, press F 8 and boot from your HD. If you can't see it listed, you might need a new HD, or you've got a problem with the motherboard= overheating after so many hot days.

I've got HD Sentinel installed, just to see the real temperature and the notebook shuts down from alone when it reaches 48 degrees Celsius. You can adjust it to give you a warning tone or shut down when you want it to. And it tells you precisely how many starts/stops the machine/HD already had and the life span.

If it doesn't go away with the next reboot or update try the "technical tap".

Switch it off, hit it, and switch it on again. That "solves" lots of problems.

And yes, that is not a joke and I did it many times successfully.

He might hit his wife with his Dell and sue you. It's a tough world out there.

how old is your Hard drive?

3 years now will see what a shop will charge to fix and compare the price of a new one...

Maybe that will fix the Dell - but there is a chance that the wife works slower or not at all anymore so this will replace one problem with another problem. Better not! ????
