First ( and last) visit to Pattaya T21

As it was mid week and my wife had expressed an interest, I very reluctantly  visited Pattaya T21 for the first time this week.  Traffic was not too bad for a change and we got into the car park with no issues. First impression  is that it is very much the normal, generic, swanky looking mall you can see almost anywhere.  Nothing at all special about it and the themeing is amateurish and unnecessary, in my view. The shops were virtually empty of shoppers and very generic in type and goods.  After a coffee we took a look around.  The food outlets look attractive, but we didn't eat.  We left after 30 minutes.  In conclusion, this mall was hardly needed in Pattaya, is in a less than ideal  location for access by anything other than foot or Bhat bus.  Central Festival Plaza is just as good, if not a better experience. The crowning negative is that Mrs P was unimpressed and she is a World class shopper with years of experience of European and US Malls.  All personal opinion of course and no doubt many will enjoy the place, just not us. We won't be going back.

I thought it was clean restrooms with automatic toilets like they have at Terminal 21.  I went to see the toilets.

It's primarily a food mall. I don't understand how most of the retail shops are affording the rent.

I heard the food shops didn't pay rent in Bangkok.  True?  It would be easy with a central cash system to charge everyone a percent of sales for rent in lieu of a fixed charge.

I've had an uneasy feeling about this mall ever since I heard Mint might be buried underneath it...

Start to worry when they rent out space to local vendors in front of the building …

Absolutely. Almost makes it worth going to the dump to have a dump.

No offence...

There are actually numerous good restaurants in there too for those willing to spend a lot more money. Not talking about the chains that they have other places. But I've found just like restaurants in general in Pattaya there is a lot of inconsistency in quality. I won't mention the places but two of the places in particular that I was raving about have already totally gone downhill.

There is no way to see the whole place in 30 minutes..its huge !!

I agree it could have been built in a better location...but too late now.

I love the location.

Many others must also as there are many people visit ing the place.  The baht bus if you take it stops right in front of the place what else do you want?

It is close to me 24/7 market I Iove it.

The food and Movies at the mall are wonderful much better then Central.

It is a fantastic food court much much better then Central.

I assume the OP may live in Jomtien or another out of the way place with no mall or real market with nothing to do.

Most of us that actually live in Pattaya love it.

Sure

You should try going anywhere with Lady Roadrunner. The only thing my girl can't pass is a dress shop.

Saw 2 Chinese girls (quite pretty) in Foodland there , they were looking for a product, Saw me and asked do you know where they keep the blah blah? (in English)  I said sure and took them to where it was
. Then asked about something else , I showed them.  Then said goodbye as my wife was somewhere around and I figured I better knock it off.

Have a T21 in Korat, I went for a look but did not spend any baht.

They have spent some serious money on the building, returns...?

Not possible to cover the place in 30 minutes even on roller skates.

Have been to the Korat T21. But only because the Thai Passport Office is  there. Seemed to be the only busy part of the  entire complex. Have noticed that wherever the location of  any of these  T21 is that general comment mentions the lack of customers in very expansive, expensive surroundings.

Have to admit that out of the many food outlets to choose from the one where my wife and I were the only customers for the duration of our meal I was reasonably impressed at the price and the  quality of the food.

I do wonder how the whole place pays it's way.

Shoes are Mrs P's weakness, but she will not buy anything over 500 Bhat and then wonders why they fall to bits in two weeks.  Still, she is cheapish to run.

It’s a good mall for me, they have loads of independent shops, not just the Zara’s and Bâta . I’ve bought quite a few things, some inexpensive hand made jewellery, a few dresses, all from indépendant sellers, the food court is super clean and good, the huge cosmetic shop’on The ground floor is a one of its’ kind, everything a lady could want from shampoos to creams and all the make up brands a Thai lady could ever want., There’s an Italien too that makes its own pasta , great. Lots of choice that is different to Central Festival. I’ll still use the two. Of course low season would be quieter , but when I last went there mid March it  was very busy .And yes, the toilets and air con are wonderful !

Another Pattaya white elephant waiting to happen, already empty units and so called sales. Me thinks it will last a tad longer than the new beach. Remember when the Avenue was cast as a new masterpiece.

Visitors like you sir are keeping that mall alive.

I misread the headline and thought it said first and last visit to Pattaya. That’s why I read it because I have just left Pattaya after too many visits and have vowed never to return because of the dirt and pollution and explosion of visitors of certain ethnicity who are contributing to the negative effect Pattaya is having on me. When I’m confronted with signs in a moderately expensive hotel telling me not to spit I realised that the end was nigh ... for me...

Presumably prior to that you enjoyed spitting in the hotel ? ????
