This is getting funnier.

I spoke too soon about the 3G being stable. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.

Sometimes the 4G is more stable.

But here's the good news, one or the other is usually stable for a very long time and if it drops, I can go to the network menu described before and just toggle to the other choice, or even toggle to the other choice and back the original choice which takes about two seconds and it's been turning on instantly.

So not worth buying a new phone over at this point, not even close.

As long as you're happy with that, great! ????

It'd drive me up the wall having to check my devices are connected every time i wanted to use them but that's a Geek thing. ????

Yeah, and also a Type A thing.

The original problem where I had to actually frequently restart the phone, sometimes multiple times, well that was unacceptable and I wouldn't have been able to live with that.
But this is almost a little bit of fun for me. I'm easily amused.

The battery isn't what it used to be.

Could be a power management scheme (battery saver) on the phone, kicking in. These are notoriously feisty, usually can be disabled in the Settings (battery, power, etc.)

Could be a gazillion other things.

Did it ever work acceptably? If so, then all of a sudden it started "Dropping" a signal? Does it drop during a call? Does it happen everywhere? Any issues at home on WiFi? Can you try a SIM from a  different provider (borrow from a friend for a few minutes, or pay 49 baht), and see if it happens.

Could be some update (carrier services) futzed your phone. A full factory reset might be in order? Obviously, back up all your data first.

If you have the same issue with another provider's SIM and after a factory reset maybe time to bin it

Phone make and model? Age? Android version? Any recent updates from the manufacturer?

That battery management idea is definitely possible.

I recall changing something about that fairly recently although I don't recall the details.

It's definitely worth playing around with that.

No the connection dropping thing is recent misbehavior. Always worked reliably before.
