Thanathorn: “We were robbed of victory!”

%E0%B8%82%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A7-Eng

Defiant Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit has announced that the pro-democracy alliance has not conceded defeat but, he says, they were robbed of their victory as he vowed to work harder outside parliament to prove that to the people.

“This election is just one battle in the long journey to achieve democracy. We fiercely believe that, in the end, our day will come.  Dictatorship cannot resist the winds of change, the winds of democracy. The people will cry for freedom, cry for justice,” Thanathorn declared at a news conference held immediately after parliament voted overwhelmingly for General Prayut Chan-o-cha to return as the next prime minister.

Thanathorn, who was the other contender for the post, nominated by the Pheu Thai-led alliance, admitted that he had little hope on Wednesday that both the Democrat and the Bhumjaithai parties would make the right decision.

This clown needs to keep his pie hole shut. Just because your family are mega rich and you think that qualifies you for the top Government job proves that you are incapable of sound logical thinking.

  • The people did vote. More than half didn't want Prayut. That's why the election was rigged.    Don't compare coalitions of civilized countries to this one. It's a massive insult.

With a Senate that was not democratically elected by the people there was never going to be a different outcome hopefully one day a true democracy will come to Thailand but I don't see it happening any time soon IMO .

You are nothing more than a Thaksin shill and as you will soon find out that paints a target on your back. There are four charges against you and your Future Forward party with more to follow as you continue to be the uppity newcomer who thinks he is Buddha's gift to Thailand.

Well Duh! Did you just work that out?

I don't think they will. So long as they have rice to eat today, everything will be ok!

Robbed, probably however even without the senator Prayut got enough votes. Just an example of how coalition governments work.

I rather had seen him in power then Prayut but Prayut got an alliance together with more seats then the PTP and FFW. It would have been far more of a robbery if the PTP and FFW had more MP's and were robbed because of the elected senate.

Still with all the cheating going on seats going to smaller parties I understand their feeling of getting robbed and I largely agree.

Lets see how the people vote next time.

He did very well for a newbie and show smug face he is not a walkover and will be challenged all the way. Winning by a mere 6 votes with the help of the 2 perennial carpetbagger parties is a hallow win. What he laid out for his party for the future is commendable. Not giving up even with all the intimidation win my respect and I am sure, others too.

It makes no difference who won or lost, the losing side is always going to claim it was robbed. This little rich kid is nothing more than a piss ant flexing his baht.

He was robbed; the whole country was robbed. If you can see it, even Buddha can't help you.

I think a few things need to be expanded upon.

Firstly he only got this far because he was mega rich, which is unfortunate but true in many political situations across the world these days especially Thailand.

As for keeping his mouth shut; isn't that one of the main objectives when contesting an election. Publicising your political vision and objectives of your party.  Whereas Prayuth flatly refused to take part in discussions or provide a speech on his political vision.

He is part of the generation of middle, middle-upper Thai Chinese who spent a considerable amount in educating their children to get them on par with the west. This generation (unless they have sold their souls to the "Thai system") feels essentially shafted. He recognises along with many others that if Thailand continues along the lines it is going it will essentially end in lowering of the standard of living, lack of employment opportunities and possibly a collapse in the economy.

The government will try to keep the whole thing afloat by expanding the state sector (which tends to be not with Thailand's brightest and best), accentuating the tight top down centralised control and pumping taxpayers money into padded out government projects. All that is left to see is how the decline pans out.

Prayuth, is that you?

  • Popular Post

By far the dirtiest election i've ever seen. The silver lining is that the incompetence and mismanagement that will prevail in the coming years will make all of those associated with this ghastly pro-junta coalition completely unelectable in the future.

Thaksin is a completely spent force now. New players will win the day in the elections of the future

How do you come to the numbers that more than half did not want Prayut.  Do show me i like to know. Because you can say that the democrats and the Bumyaithai voters did not want this but its their leaders that decide. They will be decimated in the next election if they went against their voters. Just the way it goes in other countries with coalitions. (i come from a country famous for its coalitions).

And yes I agree cheating went on with the small parties getting seats.

As I said would rather have seen Thanathorn win but its not this way. Maybe its even better because the current government will have a lot of economic problems so next time the voting the current mob will be decimated.

I was told that the Bhumjai Thai MP for Srisaket actually abstained from the vote because his mandate to his electorate was to not join with Prayuth. I have been looking for an article but so far can't find.

I have also been told that Anutin's company "Sino-Thai Engineering" is the one that is building the new parliament building which is now way over date in completion. I am sure any intelligent person can work out the sequel to that.

This "parliament meeting" was in fact held in a conference building rented from the TOT.

If people wanted Prayut, they'd have simply voted his party. The fact the democrats and bums might well be decimated in the next elections is further proof this is not the PM that more than half the people wanted.

I couldn't care less about having coalitions. Ruling governments in civilized countries don't make the mathematic formula for who gets seats after they've agreed deals. That isn't negotiating a coalition. It's stealing one.

A bit harsh there mate, this guy and his party won lost of the young votes, in any other democracy he would have won in a landslide, but what to do when this country called THAILAND whereby even if you win, and you're not one of the old guard, you lose...

I guess your an American with no clue about coalitions. Its not as simple as if people wanted Prayut they would have voted for his party. Its better to say if they did not want them they would have voted for anti Prayut parties.

I agree about the stealing seats no argument there.

What a dirty, filthy "pie hole" you have. You don't seem to know sh*t from sugar but spout off like some political science expert.

How much did the junta pay you to post this rubbish?

doesn't really matter how they vote if the EC can just change the rules after the election has already taken place ????

This isn't America nor am I American.

No, it wouldn't have been the same as voting for anti-Prayut parties. You know you can dislike Prayut and FF at the same time. I know a few Thais who just wanted a happy medium.

Meantime the baht remains unaffected by the complete stitch up and collapse of what little democracy was left ????

Didn't the Democrats actually canvass on a "not with Prayuth" stance. As did I think many of the Bhumjai Thai (not sure if all).

So many of their voters might have thought they were voting anti Prayuth.

Not an example of coalition governments work.

At least not in legitimate democracies.

Prayuth got an alliance together by cheating and cheating and cheating, yet you offer up this nonsense as though his "achievement" is to be accepted and congratulated.

Despite the rigged referendum that installed a rigged constitution and an NCPO handpicked Election Commission that allowed an unfair election........PTP and FF still "had more MP's" than than Pryuth's "coalition". Until.......Prayuth cheated again.

Your continued fanboy persistence is laughable.

Your defence of the current situation is ridiculous.

It's like saying that a thief who robs a bank and then takes that stolen money and goes to his local 7-11 and makes a purchase has done nothing wrong.

Idiocy indeed.

If he had won the PM position the investment potential from other countries would have exploded overnight, now? I wouldn't expect anything but a decline, as there is no good from doing business with a Napoleon, unless you are one of the other conspirator pigs on the farm. I wouldn't invest anything in this country either, its not a secure democracy, its a country now run by a corrupt imbecile who has now turned into megalomaniac.
