Thai media report "Irishman" on 4,000 day overstay - GoFundMe started to help him

Featured Replies

Children are separated, and put in filthy detention center without soaps and tooth brushes in the US southern border. They are branded as criminal where as immigration act says illegal entry is a misdemeanor. And these people were running away from violent environment and trying to escape economic misery.

This guy most probably came to Thailand for brothel (aka bars) visits and ended up in issan after running out of money. As the land of sex (LOS) pimps their daughters in thousands of brothels (aka bars) across the land to 30 years older sexpats, may be he found and opportunity to marry a local girl. This is all speculation but very common patterns like cops in USA think most African Americans are criminals and shoot them on the suspicion of criminal activities.

It's only 11 and a half years overstay. Let's give him the benefit if the doubt. He might have just forgotten when he had to leave Thailand.

He didnt see that one coming

I think he'll more likely need a people carrier than an estate, with a wife and two kids.

I feel for the guy as he has a young family to support. Yes he’s messed up and will end up being deported but from the surface it looks as if he’s not a criminal he’s just a guy that did not get his paperwork in order. Maybe he didn’t have the available cash to support the correct visa and no way to get it, who knows but now the decision has been made for him that he can no longer stay here and probably wont be able to return for many years so I wish him luck and hope he can treat it as a new start for him and his family .

Yes, I'm thinking of doing some research into this and I've set up a GoFundMe page......

Obviously not. They must have crept up behind him, or he'd have been off like a shot.

His kids are entitled to UK passports.

C'mon. spill the beans about your research.

Have you worked out how many women you'll need to get through to reach your break even point?

1000 pounds not going to get him very far

At todays rate it might get a taxi to the airport... but then he'll need to dig deep again !

he would hav e helped his family more if he had complied with the Thai law, sadly he failed with that, and although their may well be mitigating circumstances, after that length of time an automatic deportation and costs met by him repayable to the British Government .

HE had PLENTY of time to put this right but failed to do so and NOW a FRIEND wants us to help…...Sorry, not happening

Whats with the cartoon pigs head?

Who put that on the photo?

No sympathy. Whilst the paperwork and 90 day reporting is a pain in the arse, it's the law. Get a Visa and be legal.

My last few years in Thailand I suffered greatly from arthritis in my knees but still dragged my ass out of the country to keep up my Visa status. The van to Cambodia was always the toughest for the extension and always tried to get the seat by the driver for the extra room. I have no sympathy for over staying people and the penalties the Thais put on them.

As you may already know it's not as easy as that to get the passport, they first need their English birth certificate did he bother to get one? The mother can object to them leaving the country if she cannot get a visa and who would escort the kids out of Thailand? because he cant come back to get them,

Blah blah blah, everyone has a sob story. 11 years? Deport him and ban him permanently. NEXT!

I think the fund word needs replacing with the F word.

If you knowingly overstay 4000 plus days, why on earth would a go fund me be any benefit?

He has to be deported.

Like everyone else in this situation.

And the request for a fund me should be ignored.

More worthwhile causes out there.

In my opinion...

Strawman argument. But regardless, the man committed a criminal offence under Thai laws, and has been doing so for almost 12 years. His defence that "things went bad in the last year" does not excuse his flaunting of the law for the previous 11.

A law that would separate a family or deprive a father of his human right to support his family is an unjust law. Just because "we"  put up with it and can pay for it, does not make it just nor humane. No one has suffered by him overstaying, but the intervention of "the law," will result in his children, his wife and most likely his family suffering. This blatant disregard for human rights should not be condoned in any court of law, let alone the media.

A snail can cross any border in the world without a passport or snailprints. Are we not greater than a snail or a bird or any other creature?

Would it be a problem to meet in say Malaysia and fly from there?

But all the Brexit fearing Brits are looking for Irish ones .. with a name like that he doesn’t sound Irish , and if he was living in Somerset in England with access to unlimited quantities of scrumpy, as an Irishman you could not blame the man as he would be off his ziderhead before he even came to Thailand .

i think the “pig mask”  is is photoshopped on to the “ take a bow” curtain call opportunity photo by the RTC ? .. legal reasons perhaps ? might be wanted by Scrumpy Police !
