Thailand’s Opposition leader Sompong Amornwiwat said he lacked confidence that the current economic team under Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha could successfully implement its policies, given that most of its existing team members are the same as those in the previous Prayut government.

Sompong, who is the new leader of Pheu Thai Party, was the first MP to kick off Thursday’s parliamentary debate after Prayut finished announcing the government's policies.

Sompong added that the previous government had failed to solve either the nation’s economic difficulties or to address the concentration of wealth among a small group of people.

They are quite capable in implementing the Anti-Robin Hood policies

<deleted> the poor, all for us and our buddies

Unfortunately Robin Hood has been sidelined for awhile while the Anti-Robbin Hood's try their hardest to hamstring him with all sorts of nonsense, however - the prince and the sherrif's days will finally come to an end just as it did before.

Pheu Thai party leader Sompong Amornvivat said in parliament Thursday that he does not trust Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his old economic team to solve the country’s pressing problems because they have failed to do so over the past five years.

Addressing MPs and senators, after the Prime Minister had completed his policy statement, the opposition leader blamed mismanagement by the previous administration, also led by General Prayut, and the junta’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), for causing extensive damage to the country.

He said the previous government had completely failed to address economic problems, to the extent that Thailand has earned the infamous reputation of being “The sick man of Asia.”

When an entire administration is composed of nepotistic cronies, neophytes, and incompetent fools, why would their economic policies work? Of course he is right. The very concept of them hiring anyone experienced, on the basis of merit, or really good at their jobs, is as alien as finding wild salmon in Thailand, or finding a gorgeous younger woman here, who has no financial needs, and does not want our money.

That's a pretty sad reputation, "The sick man of Asia".

It's time to stop using that "China / USA tariff war" cop out and instead, put a team together to come up with some ideas to stimulate the Thai economy (sorry, I'm not available, no work permit).

Devaluing the baht would be a good start. Then reconsider running roughshod over long stayers and tourists in general. Welcome back the west and fill those hotel rooms, boutiques, malls, attractions, restaurants and bars.

And lighten up on this reporting nonsense. A welcome mat will be much more appreciated than reams of paper.

If Thailand has become "The sick man of Asia" in the last 5 years, somebody is doing something seriously wrong.

Good grief - you surely don't take anything that a PTP puppet says at face value do you? Next you'll be believing Thaksin and Yingluck are honest!

Which small group of people often include politicians who will cross the floor on skates for a nice bung.

They forget the "Economic Avengers" as featured in an item here recently.

The Avengers could be a winner but they need some cosplay superhero outfits to look the part,

Just stating the obvious with a hidden agenda.... nothing new from the opposition.

It is good news and timely that the oppositions exposed the hidden agenda of this government. It has been kept hidden for the last 5 years.
