Power of social media: Hero comes to the rescue for 10 year old boy living under a bridge

A Thai resort owner has come to the rescue after a 10 year old boy was featured on Facebook living under a bridge.

 

Seksan Phrabanthao or Nong Ta had spent five days under the bridge when Attaphon Liampeng, 29, the owner of Khao Chee Jan Villa, saw his plight on social media and went to find him. 

 

Ta was sleeping under the bridge when his savior arrived. He had made a bed of grass and stuffed hay in a fertilizer sack to fashion a pillow. An awning was keeping animals at bay. 

 

After talking to the child he went back to Attaphon's house who then contacted a community leader and made efforts to contact the boy's relatives. 

 

Ta told him that he had been living with his mother and father until July 20th when they abandoned him. He was left with 800 baht and nowhere to live.

 

He chose the bridge as a place to sleep and hang out. 

 

Relatives told Attaphon that the boy's real parents left him a long time ago and he was being cared for by other relatives who didn't have the means to continue to do so.

 

He is now set to be adopted by the villa owner who asked people not to donate money. 

 

If they want to do that they should go in person to see him at his resort, reported Daily News, who called Attaphon a hero in their story.

Sure, a very nice man. But really? Does a resort owner have to ask for donations to take care of one little boy? Is the resport business really going that bad?

My wife rescued two Lao girls who were about 14 years old after they were dumped beside the bridge in Ubon.

Nope, thats not what it says.

Whereby anybody going to see him in person will be shown he does not need donations.

He did not ask people to donate in person. He asked people to go and see him in person. We do not know what would happen then.

He is not asking for donations, maybe read better . But he asked them in stead of donations, come to see him in person at the resort wich is another way to promote his business , so in that way it is maki g money of the boys back .

If the adoption goes through then good luck to the kid, maybe he will continue with education & become something in the future.

He did not ask for money to be donated at the resort, he suggested people should go to see him (maybe the boy) there.

the power of social media? for sure, but how many kids can't have a decent life in thailand? i'd have preferred "power of government", that's the essence of democray.  we elect the politicians in order for them to address the social and economic issues
