<deleted> Gillette!  After more than 40 years of buying Gillette products, I stopped purchasing due to their INSANE decision to alienate every man on Earth (those with a spine at least) with their recent commercials scolding men about being too aggressive, too manly, too toxic to the female population.  F THAT!   If I knew how to post it here I would but since I don't, just google or youtube "We Believe the best a man can get, Gillette".

After decades of looking for a good shave, I have now used Gillette Mach 3 Turbo exclusively for over 15 years.

For anyone who hasn't tried Gillette Mach 3 Turbo and/or cannot afford to spend the two baht per shave you have my commiserations.

Get the grey/orange BIC blades from Tesco. About 110 b for 4 . Very comfortable shave.

However! Gillette Gel is now 350 baht a bloody can - nearly a tenner!!!

also if desperate try hair conditioner .. in usa its called shaving butter ...  i use the gillete also and another poster suggested double edged razor ..

That's what I use. I only buy them when they have "Buy 1 get one free," as they did last week. Two for 259 baht ain't so bad.

I used the Bic 3 blades for a while - they're okay, but they clog. Mach 3 was nicer, but nothing special... avoiding the canned gels and foams made the biggest improvement.

However, for about 100 baht per year on blades sounds better to me...

This razor is like a Mercur Futur (Ming-shi 2000s) and took 2 weeks to come via Aliexpress - 300 baht with 5 decent blades included, use 1 per week. Added a pack of 100 blades via Lazada or shopee (Astra) for another 200 baht,  then you need soap which is tougher. I bought one on a local shaving website, Arko is good - but then I tried Blue's soap from Aliexpress which was almost as good, but far cheaper also (something daft under 200 baht for that, used it for 5 months already). Nice if you put it in a wooden bowl and zap it in the microwave for 10 seconds intervals until it melts...

Yaqi do good synthetic brushes starting under 300 baht too.

It takes a month to get comfortable - then it's as easy as cartridge razors, but without the constant rinsing or cleaning... when finished, just rinse under the tap, take the razor into the bedroom, pop the blade out on a microfibre cloth and dry the razor, pat the blade dry and put it back in. Wonderful shaves every time...

After a year I've now ordered a Ming-shi 3000s, wondering if it could be any different/better.

Adjustable is great, though, you can adjust between having it slip over your face and requiring a very good technique/angle to take off any hair (super comfortable, not very efficient) to having lots of exposed blade for super efficient shaving when you have a good technique. I suggest starting off on setting 1-2 (some blades vary in size) but expect after a few months most people settle on at least 3-4 maybe 5 and feel just as comfortable.

There are now bare blade type razors with protection. You can set the amount of protection by rotating the handle. Its a bit of an investment if you take the original merkur futur

Not if you buy the clone on Aliexpress - and you don't need to go to as much trouble as this guy does, it's more for show. I do my shave in 5 minutes start to finish, swish the brush on the soap, then lather on the face - then shave it off against the grain.

BIC 3 blade flexible disposable shavers best in my experience and better than Gillette, around 91Baht for a 3 pack at BIG C in Bkk.

doubt most can perceive difference between 2 or 3 blade razors..  in my experience even the bic single bladers work as well

Soaps, gels, creams...  I get great shaves from:

- Very small amount of shampoo mix with a little water and wash my face well, rinse off.

- Same mix of shampoo and water apply and leave on my face and shave, rinse off.

I agree, they are over thinking it, thanks to advertising

I just found out why nobody buys Mach 3 blades here. I bought a straight blade and a plastic handle for 25 baht and it cuts closer than a Mach 3. Problem solved.

Perhaps forever if SWI (shaving while intoxicated).  There is/were/are valid reasons they were replaced by safety razors.

Yep, the who shaving gel thing is just marketing (fool tax). You can even just rub a bar of soap on the stubble with a bit of water.  Or shampoo.

That's what I do,

A shaving brush and a bar of soap . Always shave after shower.

I also use Gillett Mach  3 , Surprised by the OP, I get a month out of a blade , (30 blades will last ne the rest of my life) but I don't shave much, a couple of times a week.

I am going for the bad boy look LOL . Actually, at 62 I no longer give a <deleted>.

Me to. I followed up on the advice from @Kenny202 earlier and bought both razor and a pack of 4 blades in their 2 for 1 sale. They were cheaper than a pack of 4 Mach 3's.

And they certainly are as good a shave if not better than the Gillette's.
