Human Skeleton Found Scattered in Paddy Field, Police Investigating
Authorities are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton found scattered in a paddy field in Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Police are determining whether the death resulted from natural causes or foul play. At 13:30 on 23 November, Pol. Lt. Chatchanon Sanitmak, an investigator at Khlong Khlung Police Station, was informed of the skeletal remains in Moo 7, Ban Nong Krathum, Hua Thanon Subdistrict. He, along with rescue officials, rushed to the scene where they found the skeleton scattered across a field. The remains, dried and devoid of flesh, included seven identifiable bones. A pair of black shorts, believed to belong to the deceased, and a wooden walking stick about one metre long were discovered nearby. The remains were first discovered by Mr. Jirasak Puangsang, 36, who had been hired by Ms. Sompong Jakkrung, 53, to plow the field for farming. He immediately informed the village chief and police after making the discovery. Mr. Jirasak described the moment he spotted the skeleton while driving a tractor around the field. “I noticed the bones in the field but there was no unusual smell. Nobody in the village is missing. When I first saw the bones, I was shocked. There was a dog nearby, likely drawn to the scent,” he recounted. Ms. Sompong, the field’s owner, stated that she had not visited the area for three months and had no knowledge of how the remains got there. “I’m willing to cooperate fully with the investigation,” she said. Pol. Col. Anek Jansorn, Deputy Commander of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Police, led the investigation team to the site. They collected evidence and have not ruled out any possibilities, including murder. No missing person reports match the skeleton, so police are conducting DNA testing to identify the deceased. Authorities urge anyone with missing elderly relatives, particularly those last seen wearing black shorts and using a walking stick, to contact Khlong Khlung Police Station. A local resident, Mr. Suphot Pumin, 31, shared a possible lead. Around 2-3 months ago, he encountered an elderly man wearing a floral shirt and black shorts near the field. When questioned, the man claimed to be from Sa Kaeo village but later mentioned nearby Nong Krathum-Nong Mok villages. Suphot noted that the shorts matched those found with the remains and speculated that the man might have had mental health issues. Police are continuing their investigation and awaiting DNA results to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-25 -

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
Okay, well I won't bury my head in the sand. Today I will visit my local tax office and register for a TIN. Now, as I'm not that great on a computer I would appreciate a little technical help, please, Kasikorn has sent me three forms to fill out in a PDF format. Is there a way of filling out these forms without printing them off and filling the forms out manually? -

Getting Old: Stoic About It or Endless Whinger?
Where I live (for tax purposes - I'm rather nomadic occasionally) I was able to WORK and draw a pension for a year and a half. Legally. Goddam EU marxist communism. It's $hi7, stay in the US or the UK. You'd hate it here. And don't get me started on how much holiday I got or the health issues that I didn't pay a penny for in the socialist hell of Germany. Late in life and retired after a lifetime of good universal healthcare the docs are giving me a clean bill of health and I'm just wondering what to do with the last third or so, roughly, of my available adult years. I can't rock climb or tackle obstacles the way I once could. My shoulder is threatening me with some violence in a not too distant future. I have to be careful with my back and couldn't punch my way out of a wet paper bag these days. However I still do hefty gym work and cardio, swim, am active, travel and enjoy life, have lots of fun. But the body is definitely dying and the aches and pains I wake up with sometimes were never there as a young man. The wrinkles set to come are already hinting at the maps they'll draw on my face and the loose skin that will develop on my arms is beginning to pucker. There's no escaping that. I find those thoughts comforting rather than trying to deny it though. Dying is, in the end, just another issue to deal with in life. I'm more worried about the how than the fact itself and I am quite prepared to put an end to me myself if things get really bad. I do hope though that I can get the remainder of the things done I want to do before I get that far. I've made it a priority not to die regretting things I haven't done. But who knows? -

Marrying a Thai Wife: Overrated or Underrated?
Someone thinks too much. Fantasy vs Reality ... who comes up with this stuff. Take the word 'Thai' out. It's a woman, hopefully, if that your preference. No different than any other woman of the world. Same everywhere, emphasis on 'potentially' ... as all people aren't ... ... beautiful (sounds a bit shallow) ... caring, good luck with that ... devoted, divorce rates not different ... values family and home life ??? More important, do you want to be married and or .... why ? You're marrying the woman, not the family. Why would you support anyone else ? Is this something you do in home country ? Cultural compatibly and the rest is just made up BS. You're 2 people, you get along or you don't. The rest is just BS excuses people use when things fail. Like all relationships, either works or doesn't, no need for excuses. What makes you happy, what makes her happy, and if not like minded, it will fail. Culture, language, other people have nothing to do with it. The fantasy of marriage is a failed institution, and why so many fail. 2 people finding out everything there is to know about each other and still liking each other .... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE My advice ... if never wanting to be divorced, never get married. That piece of paper is a fantasy, and for many, a curse.
