"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the
Inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will
shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness
for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious
Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers
And you will know
My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Perhaps it's the new buddhism sect run by Pattaya police. It has killing on a proportional scale: The cuter it is, the better chance of survival.

To convince the public and tourists of the error of their ways and lead them to an enlightened path they are showing a video of Buddha's teachings at the police station

the ones about the drinking , gambling and banging will only be shown after the 10 pm watershed ..

Sanuel L Jackson doesn't seem to be a Thai name but I will take your word for it as this post doesn't seem to be a whit more discombobulated then your usual..

Why not bother? It's only a post on an internet forum, not a treatise on World peace. You must be a big Ken Dodd fan to use a word like discombobulated. He wasn't a Buddhist either .... I think ... though he was tattifilarious.

vengeance and furious eh,  very human emotions for an almighty being. Time for some anger management before he drowns everybody, including the wicked newborn babies and all the animals great and small. I thought that when Abraham asked his name he just said "I am that I am" (in Aramaic) I suppose later he thought for promotion purposes 'The Lord' sounded better.

Ask any Thai what the 4 noble truths are or what the eight fold path to enlightenment is and see what answer you get, arai na probably. They have no idea about the Buddhas teachings.

But they will go to the temples and give money that they can't afford to give away

Every religious institution has a social component, Temples can serve to provide shelter for the very sick and elderly who have no money and nowhere else to go. Religions are also  moral instances which has some effect amongst the population, not a great deal but some. Every society needed their shamans and holy men as a counterweight to the local chief which is today provided by the checks and balance in constitutions and parliaments.

Yes, it includes animals but not small things like mosquitoes.

If you look at Chinese Buddhist monks, they still adhere to this.

I don't know why Thai Buddhist monks are able to eat meat.

Well..nobody likes mosquitoes..

Nevertheless there is a a new UN report just out about mosquitoes and (on their verbal evidence) they feel mightily persecuted and there are some murmerings about "mosquito rights" on the premise that "a mosquito a day keeps the dengue in play"

It's a strange world..

Because there are two camps of Buddhists.  Mahayana and Theravada.  The Mahayana are strict vegetarians, the Theravada not so much.  The Chinese are Mahayana.
