Good idea keeping it here Grover :o

It was a recent software switch initiated by forum admin to make the "view new posts" easier to read as it was being flooded by Bedlam posts.

If you look at the "IPB" button to the left of the Bedlam Forum itself, you will see a dark blue box (see attachment below)

After you have read the topics in Bedlam, press the "IPB" button and it will turn light blue (see attachment below)

The next time you check Bedlam, you can see if there have been any posts by the color of the box without going in.

Thanks again for posting it here versus the main board.

Not on my planet Buckie.

And why now of all times ?

Paranoids might suspect the Sith Lords have decided there's more

ways of killing a cat than choking it.

appreciate the post Buckwheat, but I always click on "View New Post" link to view the active topics rather than going to the main board index. Its easier.

Perhaps admin can consider switch it back like before, 'cause the reason seems a little :o

Admin are unlikely to switch it back on Grover.

As Bedlam is a private forum, the general membership (under 500 posts) and guests viewing the forum also do not need to see them.

Posts in Bedlam should not require moderation, 'cos you're all supposed to be mature enough to moderate yourselves.

The "View New Posts" function is used extensively by the mods and admin, scanning for spam, dodgy topics etc... and we do not (or should not) need to see Bedlam topics... which, as Buckwheat explained, can tend to flood the new postings at certain times.

Does that reasoning make a little more sense now?

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Not likely !! P.gif

Jai Dee scurries away to see what the penalty is for stealing another person's smilies...

Thanks for clarification, JD! It all makes sense (to me) now.

I always use the multiple tab feature...one tab for Bedlam, one for Pattaya, and one for the New Posts....keeps you busy through the day :o

I just steal his smileys and use them against him ! (not as much fun as stalking him during Songkran with the super-squirter though !) :D

Hey, Kerry, Nurse is handing out free lobotomies today. I hear you get orange popsickles after.

And I don't know anything about this tab business. What tabs? Where? You mean I am wasting valuable time searching the index when I could be posting erudite comments about navel fluff and nose hair extractions?

I thought general membership and guests couldnt see bedlam topics in the list.

No matter.

the word "flood" seems a little strong, but yes, I get it.

I go with the tabs as a workaround. Thx for the explaination JD.

What browser are you using?

I use firefox because of the tab feature and spellcheck.

You know what Tabs are right? It allows you to switch between pages easily.

The above post is exactly the type of thing we're trying to prevent and contain to certain threads (like TLW3) in Bedlam. Apologies to Jet for making her an example, but it is off-topic... uncalled for... and unwanted in a thread containing this type of subject matter.

What has navel fluff got to do with viewing new posts in Bedlam?

Why do it?

You might think its funny or witty... and you hope to get some response from similarly minded posters, but what you are doing is discouraging other members from participating and contributing in Bedlam. Why should people start a new topic or post their thoughts here if it's highly likely to be run off the rails by someone?

Please take note of this direction... this forum will be moderated if you cannot moderate yourselves.

Got to admit it puzzled me at first not seeing the Bedlam posts in the latest posts listing, thought I'd be thrown out or something. Must say I preferred it when all latest posts appeared together in one easy place but can understand the thinking, not everyone wants to know what's happening down here.

What the hel_l, change is inevitable, resistance is futile.

Oh no! Jai Dee, my post was about the tabs. If I can save time using them rather than searching the board, then I can read and post and save time. The fluff comments were not intended to offend anyone or be off topic. They were a crazy example of tabs "saving my time".

Hijacking threads with inane drivel will no longer be tolerated... period.

I hope we're all clear on that now.
