Prayut wins vote of confidence from majority of Thais: Super Poll

The majority of Thai people have expressed confidence in the government of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, according to a survey by Super Poll Research Centre.

 

 

Only 7.3 per cent said they were not happy with the country’s current situation, said Asst Prof Noppadon Kannika, director of the centre.

 

Noppadon said the poll on the Thai confidence index used quantitative and qualitative research techniques after surveying 1,197 Thais from all regions and a range of professions.

 

The data was collected from November 10-15 and has been analysed to create the confidence index in which a number above 100 reflects positive confidence while a number below 100 represents lack of confidence.

 

The three works for which the Prayut government received the highest confidence scores were national security and peacekeeping (175.47), currency strength (160.95) and public banks’ services (154.84), followed by public health (150.92), education (145.18), energy (141.40), employment rate (114.50) and economic stimulation (103.96).

 

However, the aspect that chalked up a negative confidence score of 95.81 was personal finance, regarding how well the government can increase money in people’s pockets.

 

One of the interesting topics explored by the survey was “happiness level”. Some 66.6 per cent of respondents said they were happy with the country’s current situation, 26.1 per cent said that their happiness level was neutral, and 7.3 per cent said they were not happy. The factors affecting the “unhappy group” included health issues, personal finance problems, unemployment and economic recession.

 Sunday, November 10, 2019: A NIDA poll has shown that a clear majority of respondents want the Prayut Cabinet to be collectively grilled in this parliamentary term, albeit before the year’s end.

The same poll, questioning 1,271 Thais last week, also shows that the public wouldn’t mind ministers being censured individually.

Asked if they would like the entire Cabinet to be censured, 51.6% said they agree, while 20.2% said they “rather agree.”

What about ministers being grilled separately then? Again, 49.4% said they agree, while 25.2% said they “rather agree.”

While it’s debatable whether the public want the opposition to censure the entire Cabinet or selected ministers, it seems to be beyond any doubt that the people want a no-confidence debate within this year.

Why i find this piece of news to be utterly uncredible mixed with a whiff of a fake news? just look around you, the economy is in humdrum state just plodding along, real estate market have pretty much grinded to a halt, not many red plated cars on the roads, household debits are skyrocketing and all that while our esteemed PM busking in the glows of 'vote of confidence'...

Unemployment on the rise, household debt on the rise, road toll on the rise...yes, he's doing a sterling job! The only thing on the decline is education! Oh, and that govt majority owned airline!

The general public were ignored, as the would have voted against little P.

What a joke. I can honestly say I know of NO Thai who supports him.  If he's super confident hold a fair election, stop banning parties and MP's and stop manipulating results by your EC.

Journalist needs to go back to "basic journalism and facts course". Maybe try passing it this time around.

If you threaten, beat down, jail and kill off the opposition, you can get any poll you want. There are dead Thai citizens whose deaths Prayuth just brushed off. Prayuth still has to face justice. Anyone who sincerely gives him respect is sick in the head.

Hmm, from 22 December 2017:

"THE government has set a new target to call for construction bids for the Bt179-billion, 252-kilometre Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima high-speed railway by the end of next year, according to Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittay-apaisith.

Arkhom said a total of 13 construction contracts for the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima route would be open for bidding in 2018 so that construction could be completed and the system become operational in 2021."

How much track has been completed so far? I think it's less than 3km.

who were the 1200 polled? Family and friends of Phalang chart? Yet to meet a Thai who said anything positive about the Big P and that ranges from market sellers to doctors

He's doing the best he can ???? aided by a convicted heroin dealer and a corrupt watch collector and other piggies with inflated bank accounts, it's mostly hot air and fumbling about in the dark though with one or two 'infrastructure' plans that will be more opportunities for pay outs.

i do not know if he or his friends are actually doing anything. They making headlines by going here or there, meeting someone here or there but nothing seems to come out from it
