  • Found guilty by a JUNTA APPOINTED & STACKED court.  Hardly a fair trial when the "verdict" is predetermined from the outset.

  • As diabolical as the current Government and its agencies are, I have no sympathy at all for Yingluck. She allowed her own cronies to engage in graft unchecked, and she tried to cover it up.

Thai politics is a ruthless game.ok while your winning and on top but when you lose the new head honcho will take revenge to make sure you don't get in the way of their plans to have their piece of the action.

the first thing to do when you get into power in Thailand is get yourself a fist full of passports and plan your escape.

What you say may be true. But that doesn't change the fact that she actually did what she was accused of, and more, regarding the rice pledging scheme and various other schemes/scams during her tenure as PM.

If the charges were trumped up and false, like has occurred with others, it would be a different story. But in her case, the authorities didn't need to trump up anything. Yingluck gave them all the ammunition they needed.

Yingluck was charged with mishandling of the rice scheme; not scam or corruption. The seizure of her assets was from an executive order by Prayut and not a court verdict. It smell of a political agenda and big hypocrisy when Prayut has the same rice scheme and the NACC remain silent. Remember it was the crony NACC who was in the vanguard of her charges. What chances do she have with such insurmountable and coordinated effort to nail her and justify the coup.

Something her family should be very familiar with... now she's on the receiving end the shine has gone off!

She was not innocent and decided to run rather than fight. And anyways she still has untold riches and can travel the world unchecked. She is in no way a victim in the true sense of the word.

Thank you three times!

do you really believe that, she was used as a scapegoat, and don't forget, elected into power, and replaced in a coup

Apart from this so called government i think Thai politics have come down to being just skin deep.you only have to be a rich pretty boy or rich pretty girl to be idolised and voted for.

Problem is can you believe ANY charges the Junta government instigated?
We have seen from the election they will go to any and every length to stay in power.
She should tell us how she escaped that would get a few in trouble.

You must be very well connected to know this and must have access to all the dealings going on in the Thai business world or is this just your opinion because you support military dictatorships?

You don't have to support the current government, the military or any other organizations to admit that the Shins are corrupt, through and through, and were robbing the county blind. All about them trying to create their corrupt family political dynasty, putting themselves above and beyond the law, and cementing themselves in power. Just like their close friend has done for himself in Cambodia.

Only the big boys didn't like it.

Wrong. She was removed by a court for an abuse of power prior to the coup that removed the PTP regime.

Her short career was one of lie after lie. She'd get on really well with Trump and Boris!

Usual fake reporting again Eric. The current rice support does not work anything like the rice scam being operated under Yingluck's blind watch.

She was convicted of negligence. She appointed herself chair of the scheme and simply never bothered ever turning up to do the job. When the G2G export frauds became known she sacked the Minister involved but never bothered cancelling the deal!

As other posters pointed out, she gave the opposition more than enough ammunition against her. She never even tried to defend the actual charges, relying on complaining it was all political and calling umpteen character witnesses to say how lovely and sweet girl she is. Baloney!

Her brother and his mates hung her out to dry, and didn't watch her back as they were too busy robbing the country's coffers.

She went along with everything, lied as instructed, was videoed laughing after a public tearful presentation on more than once occasion.

She's a very very rich person living a vert privileged life. Many poor people suffered because of her and her family. Zero sympathy.

Which governments in Thailand elected or military are not corrupted and robbed the country blind. Then asked how many have been charged and exiled. If there is any semblance of Hun Sen, surely it has to be Prayut. Bottom line the Shins may be corrupt but they also have been targeted for a whole lot of difference reasons; big boys included.

Who precisely lost their money? Be specific please or you are in danger of prosecution for false news. Oh that's right if you are specific you are in danger of a civil law suit. Thailand! The land of vague unsubstantiated accusations.

When ever good deeds are done to help the people of Thailand, there's always those Thais that will attempt to screw the system, just like this governments shop, eat deals.

It's a contagious disease here, from the government, all the way down.

The Shins got targeted because the patriarch became to greedy and wanted it all for himself and his family; didn't want to share or follow what the others all accepted.

Their kleptocracy model is a text book example.

Shooting of your mouth again BB. The basic principal of rice schemes of Yingluck and Prayut is the same - buy the rice above market value and provides financial incentives to farmers to keep their grain in storage.
https://www.aseantoday.com/2016/12/prayuts-copycat-rice-scheme-hypocrisy-or-just-out-of-ideas/

This was totally politic and selective. The NACC should investigate the current rice scheme and they didn’t and for obvious reason that they are Prayut’ goons.

How so BB. Were there any corruption charges on her or her family that you can share with me. You looking at the wrong person or persons for example of kleptocracy. Try looking long term kleptocracy.

Its a bit pathetic complaining about law when you have fled the country to evade said LAW..

So what Eric, unlike the FFW they were certainly guilty of their crimes. I would not call it political, I would call what happens to Thanathorn political.

Not YL with her rice scam, Bearboxer summed it up quite nicely, never attending meetings, denying the fake G2G deals, obstructing investigations into it. It was huge and they did not even go after the fact that the company connected to scam was connected to YL.

Hard to prove in a court but quite likely they benefited.

Now the current mob is as bad as if not worse as the Shins, but that does not mean the Shins need to get away with it. I rather have one party punished then everyone get out of it without punishment. I hope (i know fat chance) that once they go after the current mob.

But Thai politics are just criminal, i mean you got a junta  drug smuggler but the PTP had a guy that hired others to kill political opponents. Guess what both sides stood by their man to the end. That says a lot about the quality of both sides.

That is what i like about future forward no such things as of yet.

Why so hard to get through to you. The only charge leveled against her was her mishandling of the rice scheme. Your speculation of corruption without court conviction is just that; speculation. Her commerce minister was convicted for corruption and jailed and justifiable. You trying to link her to that corruption without proven in court is just malicious and self fulfilling. It’s all about politics and the junta is doing the same to FFF with bag loads of dirty political tricks. They will not be satisfied until Thanathorn do another runner like they did with the Shins.

Abuse of power sound menacing. What she did was the transfer of the NSC chief to another post. Quite unlike the soliciting favour from a foreign power by holding back military aid.
