Indeed, but for a small but vocal part of the population the saying "If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it probably is a duck” seems to be completely incomprehensible.

It is also used to lie or discredit, particularly in recent politics.

Usage notes

  • The phrase conspiracy theory is sometimes used in an attempt to imply that hypothetical speculation is not worthy of serious consideration, usually with phrasing indicative of dismissal (e.g., "just a conspiracy theory"). However, any particular instance of use is not necessarily pejorative. Some consider it inappropriate to use the phrase "conspiracy theory" in an attempt to dismissively discredit hypothetical speculation in any form.

You mean the significant majority of Americans that never supported him, don't now, and NEVER will? A decision 45 made when elected in such an unusual way (minority of votes AND obvious and confirmed interference from Russia) was to play ONLY to his hard core base and divide, divide, divide. He may indeed get reelected using that historically toxic tactic where the USA is now divided in a way not seen since the civil war. But he could have behaved differently. He could have worked very hard to govern as the president of ALL the American people. Then he wouldn't have had to commit impeachable offenses related to Ukraine, etc. So basically he has impeached himself. Good work!

Of course they're still crying about Trump being elected president.  That's all they can do.  The Dem leaders will continue with impeachment after impeachment because that's all they can do.

They sure can't beat him with a better candidate.  As you said we will elect him again.

The fasted, weakest and most closed impeachment hearing in history.  Of course he will be re-elected because the American people can easily see what the Dems have done.

Are you sure?

53% disapprove Trump's job performance (45% approve)

50% want Trump impeached and removed (41% not impeached)

53% think Trump abused his power (against 38%)

Etc...

Of course NOTHING.

Nobody knows what the political fallout of this impeachment will be electorally in the future.

Not only don't we know which side it will ultimately benefit, we also don't know whether that benefit will be large or small.

This was NOT done by Pelosi for political benefit.

45 forced this. He basically impeached himself.  Pelosi had no choice. Doing so is definitely a huge political risk but it also would have been a huge political risk to simply ignore any president that has so blatantly violated his oath to uphold the constitution. So it's true maybe not that many Americans really care that much about that, and are OK with this and all future presidents acting as if they are fully above the law. The future will tell. We don't know now.

In your quest for 100,000 posts, might it be a good time to step down off the impeachment high horse, set your emotions aside, and agree there are different ways to view this polarizing political subject?  Thank you.  We sure can agree an interesting 2020 awaits back in the USA!

Oh my!  DT WILL NOT BE HAPPY AT BEING THIRD!!

If he gets removed from office he will be NUMBER 1, something he would like very much!  He knows he was born to be number 1.

Make America great again, help make DT number 1.

Incorrect. I, for one, was insistent that the trump be given his first 100 days criticism free.... Unfortunately, since being elected, the trump has proven itself to be unworthy of representing your great nation, and a thing that cannot be trusted

the crying, for the most part, is about what its done since gaining power, but hey, if you enjoy being deceived by the greatest political liar in recorded history, then you deserve another term with king don steering the SS TRUMP off the edge of the planet... and FYI... god only helps those that repent... so the trump is screwed.

Mitch McConnell just said that the Senate will dismiss impeachment after opening arguments.

There is a saying in presidential politics that is said whenever a there is doubt that the elected candidate has what it takes to do the job, and it is to the effect of "he will become the leader he needs to be" (not verbatim).  I quietly watched after the election, awaiting the metamorphosis.  It didn't look promising.  Then inauguration day, the VIP section is packed with Russians, and beginning on day 1 of the presidency (that "day 1" candidates loves to crow about) the driving concern was the reported number of people who showed up for the inauguration ceremony.  Doesn't look good.  He is still the bratty rich kid who got sent to military reform school, and it obviously didn't "straighten him out."

When he got caught passing confidential info to Lavrov a few months later it became clear who's side he on.

For people from other countries who do not like the US I understand why they like DT.

Read President Trump's letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi re his impeachment HERE

IMHO, it could have more succinct, but you would not be surprised of the adjectives the mainstream media has used to describe the letter.

Mark Levin is in the process of reading the entire letter to his radio audience of probably more than 5 million listeners. Unfortunately, Mark is "preaching to choir". The ones who need to get and understand the message of the letter are the 1/3rd of the US population who can't even identify the three branches of the US government and will vote for Democratic party candidates no matter what (or they've been told to vote that way).

It looks to me like Nancy has placed herself and the Democratic party into a trap of their own making. She probably can't back out of the vote for impeachment at this point and if she goes ahead and puts it into the Senate's hands who, according to Senate Majority Leader Mc Connell, will probably summarily vote it down as a function of their being ONLY a jury function and not an investigatory function, disallowing witnesses. Either way the wasted time and money, not to mention the historic shame of this partisan effort, looks very bad to a lot of voters.

Goodness, I am really out of touch with Boomer-thought.

Do you guys really think "The most powerful Empire in world history" is actually controlled by some red or blue-flavored geriatric elected every four years by a politically illiterate electorate? That they would even hold elections if it actually made a difference?

This is all a distraction. Quite a fun one, I might add. But just bread and circuses.

There has not been a functional republic in the US (I don't even use the word democracy) since Wilson.

This is such a non-event...

By this time next year, Trump will have been re-elected, and the Durham report will have been released.

Overnight, the FISC delivered a scathing rebuke of the FBI. Horowtiz reported on 9 December of repeated violations of policy, and testified under oath two days later that no one in his report has been vindicated (Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Page, Stzrok, et al). Durham's report and the prosecutions that follow will demonstrate to everyone this shampeachment has been a shallow attempt to distract from the real corruption that has existed for years.
