I'll finish the evening with Christy Gibson think she is a teacher now, not sure if they (plus Jonas) are still performing. Seen them many times and danced with her to this, very lovely person, they really did do a lot for charity, photo at Red Cross. Although most call it lam sing or zing these days originally it was lam cing, as in racing from English.

I from the south, but love Issan music the most same.

morlam, morlam sing= give me energy all day.

 

My other music thread have lot of Issan music. Some people post morlam from 40-50 year ago.  

 

Maybe take look and can post post your favorite one.

Kantrum, not related to morlam or Laos music but to Cambodian music. It's the music of the khamin Thais from Surin and Sisaket mainly who speak their own language still similar to Cambodian. They are the descendants of the great Khmer Empire that ruled large parts of what were to become Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. The rhythm is from the saaw and not the khean as in morlam.
