Episode 1 was a Looooooong time ago,  because of the Corona Virus messing their filming schedule.

As far as I recall, yes it was that long ago, the first episode was all about them having a race down the Mekong or something like that.

Just watched the first episode of The Stand, looks like being a "not to be missed" for a while to come.

A few changes from the book, it's moved from the 70s to the current day... probably appropriate for a plague  scenario.

Just a heads up if you're a fan of the Australian drama about pathologist Daniel Harrow:

S03E01 /10  starts on Sunday 7 Feb 2021, 8.30pm on ABC.

Did kind of jump all over the place a bit.

Watched again :

The Lady in the Lake ( 1946 )

As far as I know, the only movie shot in view from the narrative ( Philip Marlowe ).

Except a couple of times ( mirror ) one don't see the actor  Robert Montgomery, only hear him.

It certainly helped to have read the book.

I love the recommendations on this thread, but it would be nice if a link to which channel is showing a particular film or series from the poster.

The vast majority of recommendations are from torrent sites, not from being watched on TV.

Sometimes the torrent site gets mentioned but more often than not, they're from of of 3 or 4 of the well known sites.

Forum rules prohibit posting links to the direct movie or show.

If you're having trouble finding something, just ask.

Ep01 released 13-Dec-19. Ep03 will be later next year, already filmed.

This was mentioned in the past, it appeared last week.

Make Up

Could just be a simple NF,  AP,   HBO, or PB saves searching around for something someone already knows

Season 3 of the excellent (IMHO) Tin Star is out now, I found all episodes on Lime. The action has moved to Liverpool so subtitles are a must.

What's AP?

Just watched "A Hijacking (2012)" - Not a recent release and was halfway through before I realised I'd actually seen it before - it's an age thing :whistling:

Anyway good movie well worth a second look.

The crew of a Danish cargo ship is hijacked by Somali pirates who proceed to engage in escalating negotiations with authorities in Copenhagen.

Availible usual places with English Subs.

THE RIPPER on Netflix, or P Bay.

Watched again " Hard Boiled " from John Woo.

For me still the best choreographed action scenes.

Can anyone remember a series from a few years back, a group of people locked in a town, maybe some kind of experiment.

it wasn’t “under the dome”, but around the same time, “heroes” was starting around that time - it ran for a couple of seasons.

Wayward Pines ?

Can anyone recommend something really funny on Netflix?

I could do with a good laugh as a change for all the formulaic series nonsense, now made worse by many jumping on the 'woke' bandwagon.

Appreciation of humor is different for everybody, so it would help if you could provide some examples what tickles your funny-bone.

Anyway, here are some suggestions which made me laugh, ranging from slap-stick over no-brain-funny to satire, intelligent comedy and stand-up comedy.

- Laurel and Hardy;

- The Great Dictator < by and with Charlie Chaplin >

- The Naked Gun series < with Leslie Nielsen >

- Me, Myself and Irene or Yes Man < with Jim Carrey >

- Doctor Strangelove < by Stanley Kubrick with Peter Sellers >

- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou < by Wes Anderson with Bill Murray >

- The Big Lebowsky < by the Coen Brothers with Jeff Bridges and John Goodman >

- The Office < mockumentary by and with Ricky Gervais >

- The stand-up shows by Ricky Gervais

> If you like any of these let me know and I will provide more in same-genre

Some good choices there, seen most so share a sense of humour somewhat. Big fan of Ricky Gervais.

Thanks

I can recommend The Norsemen, a spoof of The Vikings, sums up what makes me laugh.
