The piers are still inhabited by roosters tied there by local people to greet foreign tourists.

Phuket province is reeling under the impact of numerous tourist trips being cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation in Thailand and several countries worldwide.

Nowhere is the fall in tourist numbers as apparent as on the pontoon piers built temporarily on Patong Beach, one of the most popular attractions in the province.

Previously, the pontoon piers were a place where tourists were screened for the Covid-19 infection. They came in huge numbers after exiting big cruises.

The piers are still inhabited by roosters tied there by local people to greet foreign tourists, who are staying away for now.

The pontoon piers will be dismantled in the next three months after the high season of the Andaman Sea cruise ends.

I'm sure the roosters have better things to do with their time. Tourists or no tourists!

more like as Thailand wakes up to the fact that this is a world wide pandemic and all the other countries in the world will be deciding who can travel where. not Thailand.

????

Just returned from Patong - seemed busy enough to me!

Doctor : Congratulations on avoiding getting Corona virus on your Thai holiday. Commiserations on getting bird flu.

At least the sea eagles and slow lorises have been phased out.

I do feel sorry for the roosters that are tied up like that in 95 degree heat and sunshine. ????

Wow what rare and exotic birds!  Do they sell food to feed them?

Tied there or Thaied there. ie

Is there no animal anti cruelty organisation that says anything about this?

Hasn't been declared a pandemic yet.

Saw a cruise ship today, so it must have been busier.
