PM calls on everyone to help confront COVID-19 pandemic

Thailand can survive the COVID-19 pandemic, but only with the cooperation of all Thai people, by delaying all foreign travel, strictly observing the 14-day self-quarantine upon their return and heeding the advice of health officials on what to do during a health crisis, said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday night.

He urged people to take care of their health, to eat only well-cooked and clean food, to avoid sharing spoons and glasses, to wear face masks in high-risk areas, to wash their hands often with soap and water, especially if they have touched hand rails and door knobs, and the avoidance of crowds.

In a nation-wide address, on the threat posed by COVID-19, the Prime Minister said that the rapid increase in new COVID-19 cases since last week, compounded by inaccurate news reports about the death toll and new infections, have caused panic among some members of the public, who have started stocking up on essential items, resulting in shortages of items like face masks.

How about looking at it as a worldwide problem with a true perspective. This has never been about just Thailand. However, what was just about Thailand was the monetary policies that were of more concern than stopping this virus and trying to contain it.  Denial that it could ever occur here was then shifted to blaming westerners, "Dirty Westnerers".  The way forward is to take things seriously and not with a glib attitude and response.  Please take care of yourselves and families. I hope that true numbers and the medical assistance is there when needed.

theyll  keep  droning  on  about  all  thais , one  family then  drag  in  "father" etc etc

The interesting question is what happens in a month's time, when hundreds of thousands of Bangkokians leave the city to spend Songkran back in the village with their older parents and aged grandparents. Will Prayut be brave enough to ban such movement?

Nope and it wouldnt work anyway... Thais will want to be with family, here in the UK about 60% Thai students have fled home already.

If people insist on going to this hospital group....then expect to be charged through the nose for everything....they're usually nice hospitals, but maybe not good hospitals!
