That might be too late now, they can only flatten the curve now, thailand missed his chance. They need to lockdown asap tho, or it will get horrible.

  • Huge amount of daily jumps now. Similar to how it started in Europe a few weeks ago. Got a feeling they need to impose a proper lockdown (this government have done it before) to avoid Thailand becomin

this can only be achieved by a complete shut down. is the government ready for this and have they got all the logistics in place for a shut down.

Nope !   But the Aircraft are waiting to remove all the 'Important ' people out of the country.

Wait.....but we are still in STAGE 2, how can it be that the numbers are growing, I thought it was under control.....NOT, never has been, and it will continue to grow, as the Stadium numbers continue to go up from those in attendance to those they visited with afterwards.  Great to know that that was the only location that the virus came from....do you think we are all stupid and believe the drivel from your inept mouths.  Lets discuss a full set of regulations that include testing and isolating those folks who are positive even if they show no symptoms. Lets get ahead of this, as hard as that would be, at least start to do something proactive instead of all these knee jerk reactionary steps.......FACE is not a good thing in times like these, Admit you were wrong, beg for forgiveness of the people and get the <snip> out of the way and let knowledgeable people do whats needed.....its the same all over the world, a bunch of corrupt people who don't know jack shiiitee....

If your talking about a need to travel, have you done any research as to what flights are available in the very near/near future Bkk to Australia and (I assume you hold an Australian passport) what virus related documents (medical / health insurance) are needed to enter Australia?

I was lucky enough to fly out on Saturday to Australia. Bangkok Airport temperature check before entering the terminal. Landed, straight off plane, thermal scanners in operation. extra form to fill out stating where I would be doing my mandatory 14 day self-isolation plus some information on explaining State of Emergency in effect and what the laws were and fines etc for breaking the isolation rules, what to do if I felt ill during the isolation period. There were taxis and Uber drivers working at the airport. I was off the plane and in a taxi within 30 minutes as the airport was very quiet.

I actually had 2 x flights booked, one was a backup for the next day - which thankfully I did not need.

Today in Australia most States are now closing their boarders, so no more intra-state travel either - so, domestic flights will end within Australia too.

Hopefully this helps in these difficult times. If anybody would like anymore answers please feel free to PM me.

Lets help each other during these difficult times.

To where? Not easy to find open arms in another country. IMHO.

Updated the graph with today number to visualize the trajectory of this pandemic.

Maybe you should give source for this graph so it doesn't get deleted again for no reason

Big Brother China will accomodate them until they can move on to their luxurious homes in Europe !

They are contact tracing, most of these are all from one place and the number will likely rise from there as many are getting tested

Not quite.... Of today's 188, by their own admission:

The origin of the virus in the third group of 108 is still being investigated.

Translate that as, they don't know!

But with a death rate of around 2% globally, the talks of lockdowns is absolute nonsense as Italy locked down long ago and their numbers of infected persons are still rising, there is no way to completely stop the spread of anything nowadays. And anyways, the vaccine is many months away, and you can't lock things down that long without compounding problems further.

I have sympathy of course, but again, locking the country down and creating an economic and extra humanitarian crisis when people can't access food won't help.

A more practical solution is needed. Bracing for flaming

Pretty sure that cost/benefit analysis for "fighting" it has already been made in the "Developed" nations.

I will not be surprised to see/hear a "grim" announcement.

Only analysis made in Thailand was "How long we can take sick Chinese tourist money before people know?".

Basically they chose the "do nothing" option which, if applied in the UK, would result in 500,000 deaths (1 in 135) according to Imperial College modelling.

Who was the genius a few months ago who claimed that the virus doesn't like the heat and would therefore not spread in Thailand? Rising temperatures, rising number of reported cases. Is this clown still in office?

Apparently the Chinese are getting ready to travel again and it's believed that tourism in Pattaya will pick up again come May... really?

Sure.

And would it be possible for their tour companies to provide fake medical and insurance certificates?

With visas on arrival cancelled and now both the COVID test certificate and $100,000 in health insurance required in order to enter Thailand via air from foreign countries, I don't think we'll be seeing many Chinese anytime soon.

I am still in Samui, I said already in a previous post that my wife being in Isaan for 2/3 month, had a 39ᴼc fever let's say one month ago,

she went to a hospital they had no test for coronavirus but they made lungs X rays a few other checkings and sent her home, no ploblem said them.
Before yesterday she had again a 39ᴼc fever she went to a clinic, when she told the doctor she has this fever, he was afraid and told her to go to a hospital refusing to do anything, yes she told me he looks afraid, a doctor!
But I have this fever up and down for more than one month she told him, I went to a hospital already, so it is not coronavirus,
he seemed reassured he auscultated her and gave her flu medication!

This is how the checks are done in Isaan, so in my opinion they do not have the slightest idea of actual figures.

Chinese should return all the masks and ventilators back to the countries which they received it from.

Multiples of them, U.S., Cambodia, some in Thailand, etc etc.

And ya, all still in office, for the time being.

Sounds you might be right.

Meaning that of today's cases, there are more (the majority) that they don't know where they came from at all at present vs the smaller groups where they think they know the source, one of those being the boxing stadium. So obviously, they're not saying that most of all the new cases today came from one place.

Stop panicking you lot , even more so the ones who are not even in Thailand.

Australia has less than half thai population and just as many if not more cases.

yes it’s spreading as expected and people are recovering

Chinese ready to travel ?  Total BS ......  What credible info do you base that statement on ?

Now many cases in China are 'imports' ...  Still very much restricted / controlled movement in China .. True .. not as 'hard as it was' .. but still very much controlled to prevent a flair up ...

This damn thing is scary.

Italy had almost 800 deaths yesterday and the curve is not flattening out as expected.

I fear that could happen in Thailand as well, if nothing serious is done soon.

At first i thought The country was somewhat protected by having a warm climate and natural high UV ratings, that gives the virus a lower chance of surviving longer times on surfaces, but seems like that theory is out the window.

I hope the world get through this without everything ending in total chaos and riots.

Thank god it seems like some countries has managed to stop the outbreak, so there is hope.

Somewhat protected probably to a certain point - but that means that given the same tracking/tracing etc. the R0 would be a little lower (not some magical barrier to SARS-CoV-2).  A large amount of the population lives inside (UV radiation does not naturally reach there).   It would not be surprising to find out that Thailand cannot have the same degree of lockdown (and the current slight inconvenient changes in life are rather minor) due to the population having to get their food daily (lack of refrigeration or no kitchen).   I have been relatively prepared for a lockdown for a while now... I have enough protein, and a few big bags of rice, etc.

Pandemics come in waves, on average I think 3 waves should be expected over the 18 months it will take to have a vaccine and have enough production capacity etc.  There is still a long way to go before anyone can breath a sigh of relief.

The curve for Italy is still curving upwards, they have not been as successful or diligent in their lockdown as one would have hoped.

And since when did they remove the red carpet "for their Chinese friends"? formulated otherwise from what date the Chinese were refused entry?

Thai news and propaganda....  you have not been paying attention to some of it in the last day or so.  Pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

Australia has not yet reached the point of the healthcare system not being able to cope - where you have to set up panels on who gets treatment and who does not.

lockdowns appear to work, if strictly enforced.

china was under lockdown for about a month, some areas more strict than others, and has had no new local cases for several days.  only new cases are imported, caught at airport arrival screenings.

even wuhan, ground zero for the pandemic, is not seeing any new infections.

our province (hainan) has had no new cases for one full month.

lockdown doesn't mean no access to food.  in our area, supermarkets convenience stores and farmers markets remained open.  we were not barricaded in our homes.  apartment complexes controlled access, allowing one person per household every other day to go out for supplies.

Perhaps for the Chinese there will be a group tour insurance policy with the insurance logo on the leaders flagpole.

I don’t think that’s correct. Thirty odd from the boxing yes, but 108 unaccounted for. So whether they are all from the same place is, as yet, undetermined.
