Best Place to live in Thailand that has beaches?

Yeah,  the developers used the loop hole in the law that limited condos to be no higher than 12 stories X number of meters from the beach by putting their parking lot in front of the monster condo, to satisfy the distance requirement.  There is no consideration in this country on the spirit of the law, but just how you can get around it as written

And there are still many vacant beach view lots that are just waiting for the same treatment.  Bang Sarey will soon mirror the sprawl that is Jomtien,  that you can see from the Bang Saray beach on a clear night

Definition of lawyer;- one skilled in evasion of the law.

Unspoiled as its so far away? Problem is, I want an unspoiled beach but also want to be within reach of supermarkets and bars.

If you like the quiet ... Mountains , Sea views , quiet beaches even in high season, good food then Koh Samui is the place , but of course an Island .. so maybe not for you .

You can be very secluded and quiet but still be close to all facilities when you need them

You have to choose the right spot but plenty of areas to choose outside the tourist areas .

If getting a stroke. Were to go on Samui? If need to come to a hospital very quick?

That would be my suggestion. i have lived in the area for about 12 years and having seen a fair bit of Thailand would say it is one of the better locations. It is well placed with Bangkok and the airport within a couple of hours.

Unlike Hua Hin the town is very easy to get about with or without a vehicle. There is a baht cab service that runs between Chonburi and Bang Sean beach, and also one along to Sri Ratcha. The hospital is part of the university, right in the centre and on the taxi route. They have recently opened a new building, it's where I go and very clean and efficient. Fairly large mall virtually across the road and there are a variety of shopping centres not far away in Chonburi.

Being a beach resort it is fairly popular with people from Bangkok but only really gets busy at holiday weekend and when there is some event on, such as the Bang Saen Grand Prix. The beach stretches for about 3km and visitors tend to stick to the centre section, quiet areas can always be found at each end and it wouldn't take long to find the roads that bypass the busy parts.

Good luck.

Is the hospital in Chon Buri? How big or modern would you say it is? Would you go there for a stroke, hearth failure or cancer? That is what will come to us when getting older. I would like your opinion about the hospitals in the area.

Similar questions have been asked before and a variety of answers have come up depending on your age and outlook.
Ruling out the Islands limits your choices

Why rule out island makes no sense, Koh Chang is only 40 min on ferry and Trat only 90 kl from Cambodian boarder, or Chanthaburi. Also has a small I O for 90 day report. Bars, most major supermarkets, restaurants with European food, good bakery's, beaches, NO jet ski allowed its a national park, rivers and waterfalls Thailand's second largest island:coffee1: Oh sh@t why did i tell everyone <deleted>!    International clinic with I C U ambulance transferred to BKK hosp, Local govt hosp but no surgeons transferred buy ambulance to Trat Govt hosp very well equipped, good doctors and staff.

I haven't been down to Bang Saray in a good 15 years.  An expat friend of mine his Dad and wife moved into a house they own near the beach there.  They have been there almost 20 years.  Prior to that he was an expat in Bangkok for roughly 30-35 years.  He's pushing 80 but seeme to like it quite well in Bang Saray.

As for me, well I know of a nice little place on the beach but I'm definitely not going to broadcast it and let the hordes move there.

Is it also near mountains? My wife wants to live near mountains so we are trying to reach a consensus.

The hospital i was referring to is the university teaching hospital in Bang Saen,

http://buh.buu.ac.th/buh61/,  there is no university in Chonburi.

Although I live in Chonburi I first went to Bang Saen in 2013 when I hurt my back and more than satisfied with the treatment, currently being treated for a cardiac condition. If I had a suspected cancer problem I would go to the cancer hospital in Chonburi, it's about 20 minutes from Bang Saen.

There is a fairly large government hospital in Chonburi but only been as a visitor, not for treatment. My wife is not keen on it, says they are a bit quick to cut off limbs, take that for what it is worth. There are other hospital in Sri Ratcha but I don't know much about them.

You could have a look at Laem Sing beach near Chantaburi, nice beach area and only about half hour from Namtol Phlio national park which is a bit of a mountain area.

Although I have been to the beach many times only been into the park once, struggled to get up to the viewpoint far less the waterfall, only for the fit and healthy.

Very nice, Thank you! ChonBuri, Sri Ratch, Baeng Saen and the surroundings is on my list about were we might settle down. I am looking into the area now as good as I can by internet only for now. I try to make me an opinion. And later I will of course go there as well. It look like the pollution is better than many other places around. Better than Hua Hin for example.

A few points, I wish people would stop saying Bang Saray is 20 minutes to Pattaya, its not...unless you leave at 5am, green lights all the way and break the speed limit..its at least a 40 minute daytime drive in a car to Central Festival. The charm went a long time ago...it was wonderful until the likes of Sea Saran and all the other developers started building shoebox condos...how many now..20. The beach has all but gone and made way for parking..befor was great to sit on a mat and order food. The seafood restaurants that at best are only mediocre now are charging double to only a few years ago. How many 7/11s now...5?...CJ, lotus, big c...its ruined the place. What once was a wonderful fishing village is no more than Pattaya dark side with a bit of a view. One track pony town full of redneck pattaya rejects, its ruined....no bank, nothing...anything you want to do involves going to Sattahip or Pattaya such as Internet, water, electric companies. Go for a day..OK but live there...The op could look at Jomtien, vibrant nightlife, banks, immigration office, easy access to Pattaya..baht bus route, beach, foreign food supermarkets...yes and due to infrastructure easier to get around than Bang Saray.. Ample houses at 10k up in quite areas and yet one minute from everything..schools abound, either government or private within 5 minutes..

"It used to be great, until a bunch more people like me arrived amd ruined it".

Four International hospitals in Chaweng and the government hospital at Nathon.

Nice beach at the government hospital - but not good for swimming. It is also next to the ferry terminals.

Songkhla. No doubt. Check this vid out:

Don't you think that the provinces in the Southmost is a bit dangerous considering past bombings there?

Phuket would be better than Songkhla, I would think

Many hospitals on samui

Yes but very small ones with tops 2-3 doctors (not at the same time) and no emergency departments and no specialists doctors.

Most of them are not much bigger than a clinic but they name them self hospital. Not so confidence inspiring when having some major issue that cant wait for treatment in Bangkok. I beleive there is only one that it is correct to name government hospital and that is still very small. The others are more or less beauty clinics I hear. Correct or not?
