Only urgent matters will allow passage onto island: Phuket Police Chief

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Rungrote Thakurapunyasiri has warned that only people attending to “urgent matters” are being allowed onto the island.

 

“I want to make it clear that only people with urgent matters to address will be allowed onto the island. Arrivals will be subjected to strict inspection.” he told The Phuket News.

 

“If there is no need [to enter Phuket], they will not be allowed to travel into the area. So please register through the [PhuketSmartCheck-in] app first,” Maj Gen Rungrote said.

Several posters who live here with families have been desperate to enter. Are their matters considered urgent enough?

(perhaps they have returned by now, I haven't followed closely)

It sometimes seems the local governors  are at odds with central government a bit like every other country in the world, no different to the UK at the moment England Scotland Wales all with different plans and working to make central government look the fools they are.

Thailand's, TAT thinks that these news stories are going to help the future tourists

want to come and visit their Phuket Island.  Well, I am not impressed, do not put

me on your future visitor list, just not coming.
