Measuring a problem is not the same as fixing it.

Give the army something to do. Start shooting arsonists caught in the act, they are killing their fellow Thais. Would not take long for the word to get around.

They would have had a field day the other day! ????

Thai government and promises are two things that don't go together ! This pollution debacle has been going on for years, with <deleted> all done about it.

I made a post earlier relating to coming back from Lamphun area today along the 106 there were probably a dozen fires to be seen in the fields.   Half a dozen of the fires were quite big and

government was seriously solving the pollution.

Are they installing more giant vacuum cleaners or are they arresting the people burning their fields?  Just how are they seriously solving the problem?

AS an article on this board said some years back, it's the desire for ethanol from the state gov that causes the excessive burning. The ethanol is used to make E20, E85 gas which saves the gov big money on imported oil, all about US $.

They also burn the rice fields! Just getting underway and organized around Hua Hin, Cha-am, Phetchaburi this time of year. I see they have started burning at night this year, i guess that's how they make it go away as it's more difficult to see the smoke. Is that how theh plan to fix it?????????????????????

Is this an April Fools joke? This will happen when hell freezes over.

The government spokesperson expressed gratitude towards the Chiang Mai Breath Council ...

Pretty bad when you have to set up a special council for breathing ... says it all.

What is easier for a community chief or a policeman to observe where is smoke, identify the land, it's owner and fine him, or put him into jail. As easy as that is to take smoky and stinky trucks, buses, taxis and pick-ups off the road, scrap them and fine the owners. It's about almost the easiest thing I could have done in my 74 years of life. Even easier, however, is to understand this is the last thing this government really wants to do, except talking about and making the most stupid people believing it.

Absolutely nothing will be done-there it’s done

overnment spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat said the council made great contribution by monitoring progress in the air pollution solution for the sake of public health.

Excellent monitoring job.  Let's see.
Monitoring defined: Doing nothing but watching.

This is what you get from "monitoring."

Ok, gather everyone 'important' around for a photo-op.  Recommend cash hand-outs and awards to all the 'important' participants who 'monitored' so well.  Dispatch news releases stating that 'This problem will be solved' and then disappear until after the smoke clears the same time next year.
Wash, rinse, repeat.....ad-infinitum.
