Social Distancing- NON Existent

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I walk about the city of Pattaya daily, and in the last week I have been in Big C, Tesco Lotus ( the big stores), Royal Garden Mall, Central Festival Mall, Terminal 21, The Harbor Mall and Big C Marina, Friendship grocery store, and Villa Market. I think the only big shops I missed was Foodlandand Tops.

Whilst in these establishments I have made sure to walk every aisle, every level and every floor.

I have found no evidence of any type of concern about social distancing from either the management of these establishments or the patrons shopping the stores, NONE whats so ever. Yes there are floor markings suggesting it on the walkways and escalators, but nothing more.

Once one gets past the entry Sign up sheet/ QSR code scan, then no one cares.

Its just to bad that the country and all of us have endured so much the last 2 months with lock downs, curfews and closures , that now it may all go up in smoke because of non compliance of a simple request.

In several shops I found it hard to social distance as the other shoppers had no regard, its like they dont care or dont think it will help.

The downside is if we get a jump in infection rates before the 1st of July the country may not re-open.

More importantly once it does re-open along with the airports, how soon before we do get a jump in cases and possibly a second Phase and have to close again........

Everyone stay safe......thanks for listening.

Did you live in fear before this pandemic also?   Just get on with it mate, life's too short!

  • Makes me wonder why you put yourself and all the other folk at such risk then! Is this your version of a survey?

You're right, unfortunately.

My theory about why is twofold.

Most people take the official case counts way too literally.

They don't bother to consider that there is no doubt it is an undercount.

Possibly massive.

Also as people are compelled to wear masks in stores and that is good there is a lack of understanding that wearing masks needs to be combined with distancing. People obviously falsely believe that the masks alone are enough.

I think that much better public education is needed ASAP.

Social distancing only compound the ruining of the economy of this country and many others, it was good idea while the pandemic was raging, no need for it now, even at the cost of few more infections, the economy is in tatters continue like this and it will bring more misery to people than any virus/ pandemic ever can...

Social distancing are/hasn't never been applied anywhere,

not in shops and malls, and certainly not in the many open markets, since their opening.

It doesn't seems that it has an influence on the Covid cases,

so far.

You cannot control what others are doing there have been no reported local infections in Pattaya for over a month.

So, don´t complain about others and what you cannot control take it into your own hands.  If it is so important, social distancing is up to you.

Or maybe the Thais are just a little more canny than us foreigners, over thinking, over analyzing, over worrying about this.

from my conversations with the Thais around me, they just want to get on with their lives. Maybe a few more will catch the infection. Maybe a tiny minority of them will die, who will, by and large be the ones who are going to die soon anyway.

My pen rye. Live in the NOW and stop worrying about the future!

This.

Like mask usage, social distancing now is little more than theatre, but it does make sense in certain contexts.

I see very little risk in my local villa where everyone is required to wear a mask, and there is hand sanitiser readily available throughout the store. Same with my local 7 11.

Perhaps instead of obsessing on the beahviour of others you should be happy for the freedoms you are all too slowly regaining.

As an adult, you should also be able to make decisions and judgements regarding your own safety. If you feel you are at risk, perhaps you should remain at home. When out, protect yourself as you see fit.

I personally would like to get on with my life and do not begrudge others in doing the same.

I walk 5 t0 10 miles per day, some days when its hot I go in and walk around the cooler malls, not a survey just an overall observation.

The government requests social distancing and no one is doing it.

You don't get it.

The public health measures are to protect others.

If most people do them the ultimate result is protecting yourself and people you care about.

It's way too early to abandon public health measures on this.

Yes there can be opening up but with measures in place.

Never said I felt at risk, just surprised so many not following simple government guidelines

I protect myself and the people I care about by making informed choices about how and when venture out and the types of hygeine we practice as we do so.

I adhere to the rules to the best of my ability and get on with my life, what more is there to get?

If you did not feel at risk, why dwell upon it in so many words?

The guidelines are often impractical, but did serve to create enough awareness to apparently avert mass infection.

This isnt going away, time to let people make their own decisions.

You come to my village and see all the masks yet they cram together at the market like sardines. Go to Central Festival, people everywhere, no such thing. Hasn't been since the start of all this rigmarole. This is in Chiang Mai.

The official numbers show very few new cases.  There have not been any reports in the news or on social media about a large uptick in the number of cases over the past several weeks.  During this time the malls are open, more people are packed on the BTS and the markets were crowded.  Last week I went to a hospital in Chiang Rai.  There was a special area walled off for people who had a fever. Nobody except a nurse was there.  The virus could still be around but it is not infecting many people and it certainly is not killing everyone who is getting it.  It’s time to open up the economy.

Yes, no social distancing, no masks, and nevertheless no Covid-19.

Feel free to continue distancing and masking, by all means, if it makes you feel better. There was so much scaremongering, you don't have to be ashamed if you're still scared. It's normal, it's ok. I was scared too when all this started.

I'm simply suggesting you get some sort of normality back in your life, it will make you feel much better.

Again.

Unsolicited.

Goodbye.

I am staying very near to where I live and not travelling much, would be more or less the same even without coronavirus..

I do notice there is not much social distancing going on in the  local Tesco Express store and 7/11 .

There was very little when the free food for Thais was being handed out near me.

Some effort made by naklua/pattaya officials but to little effect.

You unfortunately don't live with your 85 year old multi sick mother who wouldn't stand a chance if she got covid-19, I do.

Shall we switch? I don't care, I give covid-19 to you and you kill your own mother instead of vice versa.

She wouldn't be missed anyway, she couldn't even teach you to respect others

Unfortunately, you dont seem to have grasp on whats going to occur. Yes the recent lockdowns etc..have helped, but If we do not use safe guidelines going forward, like face masks and social distancing what do you thi k will occur once the airports open for international flight...or possibly your from the group that thinks it won't happen.

Well in my book you do the best you can to prote4ct yourself until there is a vacine, do less is just idiotic and irresponsible.

It’s only a matter of time before the 2m distance gets relaxed. Originally 1m was advised by the WHO then the whole world decided to make it doubly safe and it’s stuck.....for now.

Totally Impractical and with infection rates so low, unnecessary.
