Maybe July.

Likely send my bike via post-office to ChiangMai and

take the night train from BKK.

Ride around up there, 3 weeks r so.

Esp love Nan roads and

maybe end Pisanoluk.

Then mail bike home and

catch a bus back to Patters.

Will check Banglamung PO 2mor.

Papa cannot find.?

Not sure how much it is to post the bike. Wouldn't it be easier to rent a bike there. Saves all the hassle as well. Unless you have a superbike you want to use.

B3300 one way for Duke-200.

Yes.

All papa requires is a MSlaz or CB150.

Haven't been able to locate a vender in CM

offering such.

Another northern province would be okay

as a starting point too.

But papa likes the train.

OK for 6600 baht you could rent a nice bike for 3 weeks and avoid all the hassle and possible damage posting your bike. I might do the same, but go in the dry season later in the year.

Always better and more confidence on own bike as opposed to renting IMO.

Papa should send on train as original plan.

True. papa's bikes have good tires, vented seats, &c.

Original plan was post office, as train limits bikes at 125cc now.

As nice as it is to ride your own bike ,,,at the prices quoted  I would just rent a bike up there.

See it as a chance to try a different model.

I'm sure you will have a blast. raining a bit but you can see it coming for the most part and it passes rather quickly. Are you renting or posting your Duke 200? When not raining with is most of the toime the air is very clean and clear. Happy Trails Papa

Post your bike?

Wow.

An easy day to Ayuttaya.

Then an easy day to Sukhothai.

Then an easy day to wherever in the North.

Send your bike by post/train? ????

√-ing in from MaeHongSong.

Caught a taxi to airport Monday for noon flight.

Arrived CNX about 1:30.

Ended up renting a Yamaha Exciter-150 from Mango.

3700baht for 3 weeks.

Nice little bike.

Plenty good.

Underbone makes for easier on/off

but smaller tank than CB, and need remove duffle to refuel.

Bike gets great fuel economy tho.

Did some local riding CM, then shot up here this morning.

Things are very quiet up north.

Some rain, not bad.

/// Bought a vented mesh seat cover in CM,

B170, as too sweaty down there.

There is a popular ride out of CM known as the Sameong loop.

This circumnavigates Doi Suthep

From Pai one can ride to

Sameong via routes 1349 & 1265,

rather than the more common route 1095

back to CM.

papa did that route today.

A nicer ride will not be found.

All tasty mountain road.

Nicely paved, gorgeous views, scant traffic.

174 km.

papa filled the Exciter at Pai and again at Samoeng.

3 liter 91octane used;

thats 58 km/liter.!!

Was not riding conservatively either.

Maybe odo not accurate, but still …

Papa Al might like to try the road less travelled from Chiang Mai through Phrao to Chiang Rai. It comes out on the 118 at Wiang Pa Pao. He can then detour off to Doi Chang and Doi Wa Wee if he so wishes. If Papa Al likes temples, do not miss Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan, started by the engineer monk who built the road up to Doi Suthep. If he has a sweet tooth, Charin Garden at Mae Suai has a wide range of pies and cakes.

Yes, becomes the 1150 at Phrao. From Chiang Mai, it's the 107. Only one roughish section of about 2-3 km on the Wiang Pa Pao side of the mountain range.

In Phayao last night.

Took the suggested route, 107, 1150 [nice ride] to WPP.

There bike failed to start on me at 7-11 refreshment stop.

Luckily a nearby shop, & replaced the spark-plug and all good, B140.

40Kkm on the bike, maybe original plug.

Heading Nan soonly.
