CHIANG MAI, June 18 (TNA) - Tourism and service businesses in Chiang Mai offer special discounts for customers to boost their revenues after the COVID-19 lockdown.

Operators of tourism-related businesses in the northern city of Thailand join hands in an effort to kick start the tourism industry.

They joined a tourism promotion event at the famous Tha Pae ancient gate to signify their new start.

The Thapae Ancient Gate? It’s a cheap replica - a fake built in1985 that has nothing to do with the original.

And how exactly to they kickstart the tourism industry without tourists?

Oh it has a lot to do with the original.

I'm glad to see all of those encouraging tourism in Chiang Mai are wearing face masks today.

In an article a couple of days ago, three of them were bearing all.

That's as funny as tourist getting jailed for climbing on the "ancient wall" (made in the 1960s and later).  The real "ancient" wall is along Kampandin Road and is given as much respect as a urinal.
"Ancient Gate."  Ancient Wall."  New Normal Tourism.  All illusions.

If you go to Chiang Mai during the rice field burning season...they will offer free oxygen while on tour...????

Can't help but think tourists want more than a picture of a 'relic' spoiled by a hotel !

Just airbrush it out  with Adobe Photoshop ????

Not really - it’s a cheap replica as you can find in the attached article. In fact many Chiang Mai people firmly believe that the governor who authorized the demolition of the original had to die in the Lauda Air Crash because he provoked and upset the spirits guarding the city.
