Somsak ‘Au’ Tipprapayamyam, shown here reenacting the crime, was caught in Rayong.

Police captured a man wanted for slashing the elderly owner of a Pattaya convenience store during a late-night robbery.

Somsak ‘Au’ Tipprapayamyam, 42, was captured at a hotel in Rayong June 20 following a tip from someone who recognized him from television news. He was transported back to the Sukhumvit Soi 71 store where, police said, he confessed to the June 18 robbery and attack on Wirat Wijitsombat, 68.

The victim’s daughter, Noppawan Nengtum, 34, said Somsak had been a frequent customer of Wirat’s, usually buying alcohol.

"changed into new clothes he bought at Wat Chaimongkol Market and eluded police on Pattaya Beach"

Seems irresponsible of the Pattaya Mail to print this inside information.

Now these miscreants will know how to avoid the long arm of the law - by taking a change of clothing on their next bank heist.

Not at all. It helps to educate people of the methods used by criminals to evade capture and that such tactics didn't work in this case. Changing clothes is an age old tactic and publishing or not publishing its use is irrelevant.

Im  no criminal but that information has been widely available from US shows in the past (both real and fictional). So if you want to blame someone its not this newspaper who started it.

You could also reason that all the CSI and other kind of series are bad as they also give information.

Personally I dont see it as a problem as real criminals would know this already.

Re-enactment should have involved the store owner with a knife showing police what he did to her !

Yes, but the re-enactment cops seem to be the most un-accepting of bribes going by the lack of people killed during re-enactments
