Is the cheese that American brand which can be found in makro?

Probably the package contains mostly mozzarella which is tasteless most of the time.

I didn't buy it from Makro but it sounds the same as it has an American state name as the brand.

Yes that's the one. Seen it often and have been tempted to buy, luckily I have not bought it.

U can't go wrong with Mainland.

I find the fancier or more jazzed up the packaging is , the worse the cheese is.  Have also found this is the case with bacon.

You get the cheese you pay for. The cheaper cheeses here no matter the brand aren't very good compared to the more expensive from Europe, usually considered overpriced. Now you know.

Unless it is real mozzarella from buffalo milk - although with the reputation they ( buffalo ) have here I doubt if you will find it anywhere.      Perhaps in an Indian supermarket in Bangkok ?     If you can find it you can then make lassi, even bhang lassi if that way inclined.

The cheese you buy in the major supermarkets is, as the OP says, tasteless.  I cook a lot with cheese and I only use the Australian and English imported brands, that I can get in the few specialist farang food  shops in my local area.  Interestingly, it's cheaper to buy than the cardboard  cheese you get in Big C and Tesco etc.  The only exception seems to be TOPS,  which sells good quality cheeses,  but that is expensive stuff.

a typical one to avoid... Kraft Slices

  - long known to not to be actual cheese

but if you were really desperate; then melt a little Ghee along with it, to make up for the deficiencies

Any slices cheese is nothing but an abominations of the term Cheese, as most if not all sliced cheese is nothing but the lowest of law of cheeses...

ah but Kraft Slices goes beyond that...

It is not a cheese 'at all'

try melting it, and the result is as per heating plastics

I would venture so far as to suggest that the Chinese  copied the Kraft Slices formulation

- to make their plastic rice with!

Its unbranded in the shop where I buy it, It is just blocks of Australian or English Cheddar.  'Siamburys' among other outlets

Extra strong mature cheddar style cheese 270 baht a kilo in Udon Thani.

All farang meat shops and a couple bar/restaurants sell it, I’d never buy cheese at makro, big c etc, too expensive.

You must not have tried the small variety of Thai Bananas,Gluay Khai,

only available during the rainy season, they are the only one I eat,

they remind me of the Canary Island bananas you used to get in UK,

until the EU stopped the import as they did not confirm to their standards

of what a banana should look like, they were small bananas that had fantastic

taste.

500gm of Mainland Tasty @ 265bht from Makro does the job.

(for some reason Makro put a 470gm sticker over the 500gm label)

Mainland Mature & Vintage versions were also available until a few months ago & after several complaints still only Tasty available.

Try Villa Market -Cathedral City mature & extra mature...more than 250gms I think at 250 baht -absolutely superb !
