In other words regressive taxation. Those who can least afford it. Well, that's what the Tories have been doing for years.

Call it what you will,  nine million plus received continued payment subsidised by the government which in many cases allowed colleagues to work full time . You expect somebody else to pay? A wages tax hike will refill the coffers quickly and ease the way forward

Ah of course but when the banks and the stock market went belly up you expected everyone else to pay yes?

Neo liberalism. Socialism for the rich. Profits are private but loses are public.

Now you are just being silly - yeah let the banks sink - really

If I had performed my job with the rank incompetence the bankers did then I would have been jailed.

No we could not let the banks fail but the people responsible should have been held to account. What they got were massive bonuses even though the banks were erm bankrupt.

How is that fair?

We just went through a national crisis where the lowest paid were actually the people we need the most. And your opinion of them is be grateful you have a job?

So in your view it is better for the working class to pay than the rich yes?

30 million workers pay extra tax of 10 GBP a week not a massive burden, so how much do you reckon you could pull in from tax you seem bright enough to work out the revenue over say 12 months, now perhaps you could let me know how you would pull that sort of money from your 'millionaires'

My view sees things a little brighter, if you do not then it becomes apparent in your world those in employment will perhaps end up considering themselves fortunate indeed

My view of things being a bit brighter is that people are actually paid a descent wage and millionaires stop exploiting tax loopholes using havens and shell companies.

Is that to much to ask?

Tell how you will stop both. If was possible don't you think governments would have done it already?

Tell us about JRM's company too - how much did it pay and how much did/does it owe?

Surely a good patriot would be happy to pay his taxes in order to see the betterment of the UK?

Rather than avoiding them.

Well I know of some good patriots who in order to pay more bonus the to their staff - yes low paid workers - took advantage of a loopholes not at all illegal - of course the low paid workers lost out as the loopholes were closed

I can not influence taxes and social equality in Thailand.

But given I still pay tax in the UK then that gives me a reason to have an opinion over people who fail to pay in the UK despite their huge wealth.

Should the incompetent bankers have been jailed?

Nope they were full time in successful companies all the bosses were looking for was a 'tax efficient' way to pay the bonus so they received the full amount

Well if you want to go back to a post war diet based on root vegetables, with the joys of carrot soufflé with mashed tatties, then that will be great. Broccoli for 6 weeks a year, all the soft fruit you can eat for one month only, etc etc. What our UK agriculture can produce is determined by the climate. A huge proportion of what you buy in the supermarkets is grown abroad, you can forget that. The women in my parents generation told us time and again how difficult it was to produce varied food with limited ingredients in the 50s. So food boredom awaits, never mind, stiff upper lip, the Brits are tough etc etc.

you forot the cheap fish once we get our waters back
