    "A dreadful experience"....   ...it gets worse ........   .....u lost 4-0!   ????

  • I think I'd reserve the word dreadful for something substantially more than quibbling over the price of 2 beers or 50 baht.... You got lucky on an opening night special, or mistake....Now you've

Surprised they didn't say you were undercharged the first day and ask for another 50bht to make up for it.   My local beer shop charges 50bht for a large U-beer, and they're making a profit

After such a dreadful shocking life changing earth shattering world changing experience, might it not be time to stop drinking. This might be a sign from the heavens shocking you to the core to put you on the right path. Steering you away from the evils of pints.

The sheer magnitude of this bad experience must be a sign.

well............
if you are only noticing such things now
after being here for soooooooo long
maybe there is a small chance you did not notice the price of the beer too, and made a mistake????‍♂️
or that a mistake was made day before at least ?

did the bar never have this happy hour promotion before the lockdown ?
if they did (likely) what was the price before ?

The beers at happy hour are advertised at 140 baht. It was buy 1 get 1 free

So the obvious solution would have been to point this out where it says this on the advertisement to the manager

But you didn't??

So if what you are saying is true why didn't you just point to the sign or to the menu where it says it?

I did!

i never said i didnt.

the reason i got back was 2 for 1s are only on the fully price of beer (190). But the day before that was not the case. I was charged 140, not 190.(this was not written down anywhere!!) This is where the problem is. How am i supposed to know that 2 for 1 is only available if i pay full price for the beer when i am sat there drinking right in the middle of happy hour and the day before i was charged the happy hour price????? (And just to reiterate for a 3rd time, the main issue is NOT the price of the beer. It was the attitude shown by the manager.

Have never trusted beer on tap since working in a restaurant/bar years ago.  Temperature fluctuations, dirty supply lines, dirty glassware. Most beers tastes pretty awful and are rife with bacteria from what I have seen here in years past when I did try a pint from the tap.

I never worked in the restaurant/bar industry but I was still able to draw the same conclusion.

If thats the case they should have charged you 240baht for the second visit 190 baht plus 50 baht for underpaying the day before :cheesy:

In honour of bars and pubs being open for business, I'm moving this topic to the Farang Pub - a forum to relax, kick back and discuss the critical issues affecting expat life.

So now you admit, they made a mistake the day before
by not charging you the full price of 1 beer

so you mean you noticed, and complained you had to pay the correct price,
possibly leaving the poor waitress from the day before (who has been out of work for past 3 months) to pay the 50 baht for you,
that you were mistakenly (though no fault of yours) undercharged.

and you wonder why you don't have any TH friends ?

Yes the logic supplied by the manager makes sense, the man is complaining because he was undercharged the previous day, hardly the happy customer enjoying the generous gesture and cheerful atmosphere of the bar! is it any surprise she encouraged him to drink elsewhere ????

So, have we established that...

Happy hour rates are 140B/pint

Regular rates are 190B/pint

2 for 1 promo only effective for regular rates

?

And if the OP was lucky enough to get the happy hour rate and the promo, good for him.

But to raise this 'lack of a double whammy the following day' with the staff and then the cocky manageress seems futile. I wouldn't be surprised that all the while he was scousing at her over 50B in her mind she was trying to figure out how many other farang had benefitted from her staff's mistake the day before, instead of listening to a customer bleating over a bonus, rather than a valid complaint... all in her second day back at work.

Could we assume from the fact there was no valid reason for complaint, the customer had been many times before and appeared to live in Thailand, and it was only 50B, that her 'attitude' was in response to his?

Scrolling through TVF this week, that's the conclusion I'd come to.

lucky the Bill was not about girlie drinks!

I think that is a logical conclusion to draw.

In the OP's defense, by his own admission he has no friends, so its plausible he finds it difficult articulate his point to the manageress,  coupled with a scouse accent they probably thought he was trying to scam them.

No, nothing to do with the 50 baht.
