apart from the idea of traffic on ws in the dark, i think its a good and necessary policy,

but they really need to scratch that traffic in the dark

Thanks for the jokes, it's been a bad morning so far and was in need of some proper amusement.

"But officer, I was only going one way!"

Another nail in the coffin I think .............. I've never witnessed so much self inflicted ruin to their tourist industry. Once the covid19 pandemic is over & a vaccine is found I doubt very much if Thailand will be on many people's list of places to visit. It's had the world at it's feet for years as a tourist destination & ruined it over the past 15yrs. Looking for a quick fix to their woes is not the answer ......... once the pandemic is over all the famous places that brought millions of tourists to Thailand will be lost forever, some no longer exist ............... Khao San Road, Walking Street are classic examples, but there are many more. It may be seen as seedy in Pattaya by the world, but it was wild, fun & friendly ...... now it's boring & the atmosphere that once was has vanished from the streets ......... sad.

Open to cars?  It should be rebranded - "Mario Brothers Pattaya Walking Street Edition"

Stage 2 in getting rid of the Walking Street. The Hi-So Sino-Thais don't like the image. They want their nookie to be discreet.

Stage 1 was the "family resort" and letting the flag following Chinese hordes in.

I think it's only a matter of time before they turn Soi Buakao into a one way street.  Long past due imo.  Opposite direction of Soi 2 so southbound.

Wonder how many scantily dressed go gos will be happy flaunting their stuff on the sidewalks as pick up trucks packed with their easan families and neighbours crawl nose to tail along the street every weekend taking photos an videos ?

Totally confused thinking & idea .... It will be a dead zone soon .

I guess the rent will stay high , only stupid merchants will pay that amount.

Go to Soi Buakhao , Soi L.K.Metro plus other side streets there to enjoy

yourself . Soi 7, 8, 13 ... dead zones .....   Soi 6 is coming back ......

Walking street was already open to traffic about 14 hours a day.....

Walking street was the only traffic free street in Pattaya.....

There is ZERO ZERO ZERO reason to drive a car there at night except to gawk..

Taxis I am sure will be thrilled to be able to park and drive endlessly down walking street all night....

This is just a stupid worthless pointless idea.......

Walking Street will be renamed Drive Thru Street

Thais are generally not enthusiastic walkers and will happily park right in front of the food vendor, never mind who is waiting behind.

Expect massive traffic jams on weekends...

It will become a tipical Thai market with smoke and beer added by Chiang and Singa it will have bands and thousands of Thais, heaps of food. Its party time for Thais move over Falang.

I thought they were going to tear walking street up and bury the cables? What happened to that?....You can not have car driving on walking street if the street in torn up....??

Soon to be renamed Driving street .. not a decision immersed in foresight this ..

Monumental...Driving Street... Thais motorbikes... women... How long till the first shooting?

Seen it all before..

Why not Walking Food Street? Farmers selling food and vendors selling food. Later add live music when appropriate.

Just something different to eat from before. If you get my drip. 8 ^)

Street stalls selling all kinds of tot will be next and that will surely be the kiss of death,  just like what happened to Pat Pong............

Good point and comparison....

Been a dead man walking street for some time. Interim measure until the redevelopment plans are sorted.

Fine to open during the day but terrible idea to extend the auto traffic hours--they should be eliminated, instead, and make it...Walking Street.

Seems to be a contradiction in that when Beach Rd became a special food and tat market for whatever the reason, it was closed to traffic, but when Walking St does the same, it gets opened!
