A drug suspect was killed and two police officers injured during a police raid in Nong Khai province on Friday afternoon.

Muang Nong Khai police said that three of their officers were engaged in the shooting incident with the suspect, Parinya Yeunnan, 25, in Meechai subdistrict earlier that morning.

“Officials tracked down the suspect, a Nong Khai local, who was believed to be a residing at the house,” said the police.

“As officers approached to search him, Parinya charged at them with a knife, prompting an officer to shoot at his right leg. The suspect still did not stop and lunged forward with the knife to slash two officers on the forehead and face. Police then decided to shoot the suspect multiple times,” the police said.

Forensic experts found four gunshot wounds on the body and one in the right leg. At the scene they also reportedly found a bag containing 83 tablets of methamphetamine. Parinya’s body was sent to Khon Kaen Hospital for autopsy, while the injured officers are also being treated at the hospital.

Prakob Yeunnan, 58, the suspect’s father, said that Parinya was previously convicted in a drug case in 2018 but got out early and used to work as a truck driver in Bangkok before he got involved with drugs.

one thing is for sure when you are on the opposite side of a search warrant with the thai police is to comply and be a belligerent "suspect" as you will end up pretty much ventilated from so many bullet holes in you you'd like a sieve...

Ahhh, the revolving door that is the Thai penal system.

He had already been shot in the leg, surely they could have moved out of the road without being injured (as they were) and shot in the leg again, as opposed to deliberately killing him Duarte style?

Why is a hospital so far away involved?

Surely they would not take injured officers all that way for treatment, or is it a case of poor reporting?

Maybe should have read officers taken to hospital for treatment.

This is not TV or a movie.

I know it does not mention it, but if he was on meth a shot to the leg would not slow down his momentum.

If he was not on meth, it does not talk about distance, but a normal person can attack from 3-4 meters away in less than one second.

Here is a youtube video showing some of this things that can go wrong.

He was Known to been Jailed before for Drugs .

Take No risk with a Crim with a knife  Shoot him Down .

The cops didn't know if he was on drugs or not ,If he keeps coming Kill him.

He won't  be able to do that again.

You would have thought biometrics would have stopped him at 2 billion it should be a cure all for criminality ????

You are certainly correct, but probably applying far too much logic and common sense.

The police should have initially shot the perp in the chest, not the leg. This would have prevented unnecessary injuries to the police officers, who are perhaps lucky to be alive.

He charged at them with a knife, continued to charge at them after they tried to do it the non-lethal way, so they stopped the threat.  They only have seconds to act.

In what world do you allow a man trying to cut you to pieces with a knife to just have at you?  What should they have done, run away and hoped that he did not kill them?

This isn't a cartoon.  If they tried this plan they would probably be dead.

This is a prime example of why shooting someone in the leg doesn't work.

I assume you mean "extrajudicial killing".  How on Earth does that apply here?  He was actively trying to kill the police officer (and succeeded in injuring two of them)!  Self defense, case closed.

If you simply surrender and lay your weapon(s) down, in theory you should be reasonably safe. If on the other hand you attack the police wth a knife or other weapon you literally take your life into your own hands.

Judging by his age and the amount of drugs found, he was probably only a Mr Very Small in the promotion stakes of drug dealers.

I cannot remember if a Mr Big has ever been caught.

I am 100% sure they did not aim for his leg, however in the hast of it all, the first shot hit him in the leg.

Police are trained to shoot center mass (Chest)

Why do Thai police always have to shoot people with knives?  Are they not taught how to disarm a person armed with a knife like the unarmed British Police do?  They wear stab-vests don't they?  A tazer would have stopped the guy.  In my view this death is totally unnecessary!

Don't these drug dealers know, never bring a knife to a gun fight?

I don't think the vests protect the officers neck, face, arms, legs and groin areas.  As for tazers they are extremely unreliable, and I'm sure the Thai officers are trained to disarm someone with a knife, in this case the officers prescribed 4 lead injections to achieve the successful outcome.

Maybe they don't carry Tasers? Gun works Fine you see.
