What documents are required to extend amnesty visa with an embassy letter?

Featured Replies

Hi,

If you have a letter from your embassy, what other documents are needed to extend amnesty visa, in Pattaya? I saw someone posted a requirements photo that was the same as what they wanted pre-amnesty (hand drawn map, etc). Is it still the case? Because I also saw some posts here saying they only filled TM7(?) form with the embassy letter that's it.

Anyone can give more info please?

Thanks in advance.

All that should be need is the letter, the standard passport copies and TM6 departure card.

Copies of passport photo page, visa (if any), extension stamp (if any), entry stamp.

my friend's Embassy (UK) letter only qualifies him for a 30 day extension.......

Be aware that when you apply for the Embassy letter supported 'special' 30-days extension of stay at your local IO, that this might disqualify you for any further regular extensions of stay.

So in case you intend to use that 'special' Embassy letter supported extension of stay, in order to use it as a spring-board to later apply for a 1-year extension of stay, it is highly recommended to enquire beforehand at your local IO whether they would allow you to do that.

Essentially this would only disqualify you from any further long-stay extensions (like switching to a Non-Imm), correct?

At least, I think it would disbar you from applying for Non O (conversion) visas to change from tourist entries (including visa exempt) to entries from non immigrant visas. That can only be done if there is at least 15 days left on your permission to stay. The extension using embassy letter is taken under consideration, with a report back date (to confirm the extended permission to stay) too late to apply for the conversion visa.

So that means if there is new amnesty I would be excluded? And I can still extend with yet another letter later on if the situation stays the same no?

I've seen this mention in several threads now. I'm wondering how people have arrived at this conclusion.  What is the basis for this?

I'm not asking about Immigration's reasoning.  I'm asking for any actual evidence that this is actually true.  Or is it merely speculation? And if so, based on......?

(Not saying the three of you are wrong. Nor is it clear that you are right. Which is why I am asking for more info on this.)

If I recall well, @greggraham reported that he was warned by HatYai IO that when applying for the Embassy Letter supported 'special' 30-days extension of stay, that doing so would bar him from doing any other 'regular' extension applications.

As there is absolutely no consistency in how IOs interpret and enforce the rules/regulations (especially during these unprecedented Amnesty times), it would be wise to enquire at your IO about how they would handle such application.
