"Waste of money" bus stop repairs anger netizens

A bus stop on Route 36 is in the news again.

People had complained loudly that the brand new shelter was useless as it didn't keep the sun or the rain off.

So the authorities repaired it.

They raised the level of the surface with some extra cement and put on a second roof as well as a backdrop.

Nutchanon Payakaphan  posted a picture of the repairs that were roundly criticized by netizens.

They said it was a terrible waste of money and budgets and now unusable by the handicapped.

It didn't come curved from the factory, but dangit K. Santi and K. Somchai did their best!

Get in a 3rd contractor to build a ramp for the disabled and a 4th contractor to build a lift to allow the disabled to get into the bus. Then at least the budget will have enough wedge in it to handle brown envelopes.

I can see plenty of shade 20 metres up the road. Ah !  Thats too far for a Thai too walk !

Looks like a proper Somchai Fixes - job. The third one will be around soon to tie some cardboard to the sides.

The ‘authorities’ made money on the deal…the ‘authorities’ made even more money by inflating the budget…and the same ‘authorities’ don’t give a sh*t about the handicapped.

2 in 1 functionality some people just don't understand Thai architecture.

It looks like the original roof was slanted toward the rear to channel off the rain away from passengers.  The new (lower) roof has a nice downward curve at the front to channel rain into an nice line of dripping water which passengers will pass through?
