Patong police stopped a 36 year old Frenchman in his car in Muang district of Phuket yesterday after a British tourist claimed that he raped her in his Patong hotel room.

E.G. accepted that he was the man named in the warrant and was taken to Patong police station for questioning.

Police said that on the 11th of September they received a complaint from "A", 29. She said that she had met the suspect on dating site Tinder on the 7th and understanding that he was a fellow tourist agreed to meet him at Surin beach on the 8th.

After their meeting he allegedly took her to his hotel room and forcibly raped her.

She consulted with relatives abroad before going to the police who gathered evidence and asked the court for a warrant.

Not saying that he had the right to rape her to get what he wanted if she said no or resisted. However, I also find it very peculiar that a woman just follow an unknown man they met for the first time to his hotel room. To me it sounds more that she might been expecting him to pay, and that did not happen and the result is then a call for rape. it´s a lot of that on Tinder today.

Yep, and what really happened you will never know.

Could she have been under the influence of some sort of a substance to make choose wrongly and drop her guards i wonder?...

I don't understand why people think that just going to a hotel room is a bad thing. I have had Thai woman at my house often. Did not mean sex could just mean watching TV eating something or whatever.

Just going to a room is not consent for sex.

Though I like the comment of @Rmac442 as there are always 3 sides to stories like this. (or at least quite often)

Anyone going to the hotel room of a stranger they met on Tinder needs to read what happened to Grace Millane.

I have been with girls i met on tinder in my house. Nothing happened. Other times things happen. But just that you get into a house does not mean i got the right to do as I want.

I guess your a bit old never used tinder.

Every time I've heard goss from a Thai friend about the above, they're disappointed that the guy wasn't "man enough" to go through with it. Whilst going in their best vic secrets and freshly shorn.

I doubt the ladies are happy with the netflix sans chill.

Nobody said being in your house gives you the "right" to do as you want.

But you must be a bit young to think that women coming to your house, after meeting them on a hook-up app, are simply there to watch Titanic.

I’ve little sympathy, I knew what he’d look like before I saw his photo.

No means no and no matter what has happened before, it doesn't matter what the previous relationship is, anyone who continues after that word is spoken or there is any sign of resistance to what is happening is committing a sexual assault.

This is exactly what differentiates human beings from animals, you have got to respect the woman's wishes.

If you don't have what it takes for her to say "yes", then damn well respect the "no" and try again another day?

Best is to record at least the audio if you meet a new girl in your / her room. There are enough apps for this.

Yes absolutely but if woman shout "OH NO" im coming..... that means no also! Or "add tempo"!

Tinder is "bang app" everybody know that!

Why somebody go date anyway, want to get screw! Or they go reading Shakespeare?

So many attempts to justify what happened...

And NO, tinder is not a "sex" app, it is an app to make friends, for lonely people, who are very restricted in bars or whatever in their area, you can connect with like-minded people nearby, and arrange meetings to know each other better!

Yea right like you knew what happened. Or like you knew that tinder means auto hookup. Maybe you should use it once and read profiles. Many are looking for long term things and don't get in bed right away.

Maybe you should keep to bar girls and so on.

Not everyone likes bars, its not a sex app. Once you read the profiles you will understand. There are actually loads of active sporty girls on there that are not into the bar scene and drinking. So you won't find those there. Many look for long term too. Those are not girls that jump into the bed right away.

You at least understand the app I guess a lot of guys havent got a clue. I doubt they even know how to date but instead just pay a bar girl.

Maybe so, but even if a "bar girl" says no, would you rape her?

Do you feel she is less of a human being than us?

I am sure there are bar girls there too but you can easily read that in the profiles. Many are upfront about what they want. But that is not the majority. Its an app for dating not a sex app.

Sure there are some freelancers on there. But the majority is searching for long term. Many specifically say no ONS (one night stands) or FBW (friends with benefits)

Nobody know what REALLY happen!!!!!! I never say its ok to force woman to do anything!!! But after "Me too" campaign, there is many case where some "horse" have say man abuse her when only look her"strange way"!

All a holes who do something bad to woman should go prison for long time, but who can anymore tell what is real and what is not!

Maybe just treat a woman with respect, and be assured that your friendship will not result in a police case, and many headaches for you in the future?
