PHUKET: A 9-year-old girl died and seven others were injured when a pickup truck slid off the road and ploughed through people dining at a roadside restaurant on Thepkrasattri Rd last night (Sept 16).

Maj Sornthip Chukaew of the Tha Chatchai police was notified of the accident, in front of the West Coast Ride Thailand Maikhao motorbike shop in Moo 7, Mai Khao, at around 8:30pm.

Police together with Kusoldharm rescue workers rushed to the scene where they saw a black Phuket-registered Ford pickup truck rammed through the shop window of the motorbike shop.

Indeed... those damn slippery roads...

In reality, the roads are very slippy at times with polished tarmac, oil residue and rain.

But no one should be driving fast enough to slide ‘off the road’.

This is involuntary manslaughter.

Blame the idiot driving, but the lack driver education, lack of effective policing are also complicity.

We need to see more ‘driver education’ on primetime TV (between the soaps etc).

50 to 60 people a day killed in road accidents in Thailand .......I've always wondered what the criteria are for posting a particular accident when there are so many from which to choose.

Thais don't seem to be educated in the skill of adjusting one's speed to the driving conditions that are in play.

Too many kids killed on the roads by incompetent drivers. One is too many. RIP.

Slippery road my backside. Thailand has to start publicly handing out jail sentences to these reckless morons. This should be a manslaughter charge.

Well Ford and Isuzu pick up drivers are notorious for speeding and spewing black smokes.

Ranger, wild track, f150, raptor and dmax....

If I had a car named like that Im gonna be in da mood for da fast and da furious broh

They just don't understand how "light" back of pick up car is! Then they use bald tyres and speed up in curve!

Again just started life has wiped out! RIP small girl hope you are in better place! ????

It was worse when the Dodge Ram was on the roads. They thought they were instructions!

No. During the soaps, instead of endless screaming with men hitting women, women hitting servants repeated nightly

The accident happened in the Phuket-ish area, involved a Phuket-registered vehicle, was reported in the Phuket News and has been posted in the Phuket News forum.  Those criteria were probably relevant to this particular accident being reported in the OP.

I didn't see that, where did you see that reported in this case?
