Video: Prisoner walks out of jail dressed in warder's clothes carrying a clipboard!

A video from Phetchabun in north-central Thailand showed the moment when a man on remand for a string of thefts coolly walked out of the local prison dressed in the clothes of a warder. 

 

Wuthichai, 35, facing seven counts of theft and waiting for a court appearance after his arrest in early July, stole a warder's clothes from a room and concealed his appearance with a face cap,mask and glasses taken from the prison factory.

 

He completed his disguise with a clipboard under his arm and had the door unlocked for him by a warder.

 

He then got on a motorized samlor and went to a house near a store five kilometers away, transferred to a motorcycle and drove to a relative's house in Chorn Prai sub-district on the outskirts of Phetchabun city. 

 

A full scale manhunt was started when the escape was noticed and a phone signal helped to result in his capture later on Thursday. 

 

Wuthichai was found asleep at a relative's house by a corn field. The motorcycle was parked outside. 

 

He said that he had planned to wait for the cover of darkness before trying to cross over to Laos where he has a friend. 

 

He said that he made his escape because he feared a long sentence. 

 

A samlor driver outside the prison said that the "warder" had got in a friend's vehicle as he was at the head of the rank. Later that friend told him he had been threatened with assault if he gave any details to the authorities and was not answering his phone. 

 

Wuthichai was arrested on July 2nd and taken to the prison on July 4th as he was readied for a court appearance.

If it is that easy to walk out of an actual prison, perhaps the 14-day quarantine requirement won't be as inconvenient as I'd imagined.

He decided to pretend to be in a coma.
When he finally decided to drop the act he was arrested, because you aren't supposed to end a sentence with a coma.

Well, Steve McQueen he ain't... and why all thees dufuses can always be found at a relative house like always, what? no imagination where to run to and hide?...

I was prepared to give him full marks for the disguise and the escape until the Thainess kicked in:

First rule of management. 

 

Always carry a clipboard. So you can just stand there doing nothing or doodling, and still strike fear into the employees.

Love the escape. Classic stupidity on show again. Now though he needs to be seriously worried about the beating he is going to get at the jail, for causing such embarrassment.

10/10 for the escape routine, even Cool Hand Luke would have been proud of that, as for the rest of his escape out and out plonker

'at a relative's house'   I'm guessing his mother must be deceased?

And...if anyone challenges you...look at your clipboard and say, "I need volunteers to clean the general's septic tank....are you busy right now?"

I made a career out of walking around with a clipboard and a large set of keys.

Add that to his list of charges, Impersonating a Warder if thats possible

The not so great escape, he got free,he should have kept running

till he reached Loas,how did they track his phone,did he have a

phone in prison,how did they know,unless he took it off the

Samlor driver.

'excitement'   Although as the guy was asleep when they found him, I'd guess when he was woken up, 'excrement' was probably the word.

A prisoner who had disguised himself as a prison guard to escape from Phetchabun Provincial Prison on Thursday was captured later the same day from an abandoned house in Muang district.

 

Police at Muang Phetchabun Station on Thursday (September 17) arrested Wutthichai Dechasitthanwat, 35, who was serving a prison term after conviction in a burglary case. He reportedly has a long criminal record of similar offences.

 

According to the prison report, Wutthichai allegedly disguised himself in a prison guard’s clothes, wore a face mask and a hat before walking out the front gate, while security officers thought he was a fellow prison guard.

 

Witnesses reportedly alerted officials that they had seen a suspicious-looking man riding on a black Honda PCX motorcycle away from the prison. Police tracked the bike down to a corn plantation near an abandoned house, where they found Wutthichai hiding.
