Thai media Manager reported that up to 30,000 Thai tourists visited Koh Chang, Koh Kut and Koh Mak off Trat province in Thailand's east during the three day holiday weekend that has just passed.

They said that visitors enjoyed the area at its beautiful best.

Local tourism business secretary Saksit Mungkarn reported hotel occupancy at 90%.

It is thought that the long weekend brought in hundreds of millions of baht to the local economy providing a much needed boost.

For the visitors there was a long journey home, however.

Manager said that 200 - 300 cars were waiting to be loaded onto seven ferries operating at the two ports back to the mainland.

Tailbacks of 2 kilometers were reported on Koh Chang.

The domestic tourists currently enjoying the low hotel prices, the beaches, the islands, etc are going to have big shock when they see the prices up by 100-200 % when the Chinese are back. The businesses happily taking their 500 Baht for a 3-star hotel room won't want to know them when things are back to "normal".

Long queues, a good reason NOT to visit Koh Chang.

Only for passenger cars. Unfortunately, to enjoy Koh Chang, a car is almost a must-have. The roads are peppered with crashed motocys.

30,000 Tourists visited Koh Chang.

With an average spend per person on cheap Hotel, food and Drink, plus a few small extras maybe spending a total of 10,000 ( Max ) per person.

Its hardly time to light the Fireworks yet.
