The first group of 33 Chinese tourists, arriving in Thailand on Special Tourist Visas (STV) from Shanghai, have completed their mandatory 14 days in quarantine, at a hotel in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok, and are about to leave to tour the country.

An executive of the Royal Benja Hotel, where the Chinese group had been quarantined, said that he spoke with several of the visitors, who all told him they were not bored during isolation, because they could use a gym and enjoy the hotel’s grounds after they completed the first round of COVID-19 tests.

The hotel also arranged for a Loy Krathong event, held at the hotel’s pool, for tourists who passed the second test, said the executive. Issued with STVs, the guests can stay in Thailand for up to 90 days and can extend their visas twice by 90 days per extension.

Somehow such reports give the impression that the Chinese are the first and only tourist that arrived so far in Thailand. But this is obviously not the case. Would be interesting to know how many arrived in total so far and from which countries and how many tested positive.

Well, 33 "were not bored at all", according to the hotel executive, it's refreshing for me to know that, thought quarantine was like prison.

The other 6 got depressed and jumped through the window. It makes for a fair suicide rate of 15%.

They got lost wandering the ample hotel grounds because they weren't led on by a guide waving a flag and playing an annoying jingle on a megaphone. Hotel employees reportedly are still searching for them.

"Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Yutthasak Supasorn said that some of the tourists in this group wish to visit undisclosed seaside locations, adding that he could not say where because that is confidential."

Since when does confidentiality play any role in Thailand, when it is about foreigners? ????

Ah, I see, this might play a role when it is about foreign investors, or police advisors ????

Yes seeing this made me sick to my stomach. Yuck I hate that commie flag. Loy Krathong at Tappae gate they had a large float that had the two flags side by side. Why does Thailand feel the need to suck up to China. Nothing ever good comes from them and it.

Times sure have changed. Back in the late 1970s I was living in a small village down Sattahip way and one night tuning my SW radio I picked up a Chinese radio station. My TGF freaked and said to quickly turn it off. It was illegal to listen to Chinese radio and if a neighbor heard that coming from our house they would inform the cops.

Maybe they tested positive and had to stay behind   for a bit longer ?

It has to do with brown envelopes and Swiss watches.

They sure have. And going the wong way is not good! Only leads to being subservient and being owned.

Yes it does. But unfortunately it only lines certain generals pockets and the majority rest actually don't like the Chinese. Always up in the Elite been KAs for them. Look at CP, directly off the boat and presumed to be a commie party member. Disgusting..

No, they're the new owners.

Only 33? What are they, forward scout insurgents or Party "Advisors"?

Local Shrimp have lined up at the American embassy seeking asylum after hearing the news.

Luckily our little lost moobahn is well off the beaten track and has been forgotten by the people in charge, garbage collection can't even be organised, so if any tourists do get here they should be warned about the smell of burning plastic, but thinking about it the Chinese will be used to a lot of pollution.

It was reported that 39 Chinese tourists had entered the Kingdom where are the other 6

These tourists are special invites from the wealthiest chinese family in Thailand.

They have probably also had the chinese vaccination jab.( so they won't catch wuhan disease)

The next step will be a guided tour of Pattaya to plan the redevelopment, locations for gold shops, money exchanges and to purchase and refurbish hotels and guest houses,

Of course they weren’t, after being physically barricaded in their own homes for 7 months - 14 days must have been a doodle.

The Farangs had their chance. Often dreamers trying to survive somehow here. The Chinese mostly have big business ideas. Just look at Sihanoukville. Nobody will miss us here and I even understand this.
