I am curious whether the Thai government has issued any rules concerning:

1. Expats who live in Thailand and have full general hospital/medical cover. If they fly back home for Xmas will they also need to acquire (USD 100K) additional Covid insurance on their return? If so then it is strange it was not asked for in OIctober when renewing my work permit, and

2. If I get a covid jab when back in Oz does that mean I dont need to do quarantine on my return?

Assumimg this hasn't been afddressed previously, does anyone have a government contact point where these questions can be raised?

there are others that will be available

Not according to Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt.

He was quoted in today’s Australian about it being “rolled out” in March

According to earlier reports it will not initially be available to everyone.

The vaccines available are yet to be approved by the Australian Health Authorities.

No one knows what the policies may be in the future, but under the current rules, yes, you would need the 100k Covid coverage to get a COE to return to Thailand after your trip. If your current medical insurance includes that coverage, you wouldn't need a separate Covid policy.

I'm not sure why that's strange - the rules for work permits aren't the same as the rules for COE.

Again, rules may change in the future, but so far there's been no indication that quarantine requirements will change anytime soon. Since it's still not clear whether vaccination will prevent you from possibly transmitting the virus, I'm guessing that the authorities will take a very cautious approach.

The Thai unelected "PM" and his "government" will be looking towards their own income streams before they make any approach, cautious or not.
