Hua Hin Countdown 2021 cancelled over COVID-19 fears

Market Village Hua Hin has cancelled its New Year countdown event as a preventive measure against the possible spread of COVID-19.

The operators of the mall made the announcement on social media on Tuesday confirming the cancellation of the ‘HuaHin Countdown 2021’.

However, the mall will still be open as normal and the planned end of year sales and promotions will still go ahead, the post said.

Anyone visiting the mall is asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing measures.

The announcement signals the first major event to be cancelled in Hua Hin following the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Thailand, the majority of which have been found amongst migrant workers in Samut Sakhon.

At the time of publishing there had been no new cases reported in Hua Hin, while one new case was recorded in Prachuap, close to the border with Myanmar on Tuesday.

On Monday, provincial officials said that a total of 19 checkpoints had been set up throughout the province monitoring traffic travelling south.

In addition all seafood truck arrivals from the Singkhon pass border checkpoint with Myanmar were also being checked.

Earlier this week, public New Year’s Eve events in Pattaya, Bangkok and Baengsaen were also cancelled.

All the old girls will stay home and do some knitting?

yes, and old men won't show their paunchy bellies

Well Thailand , be happy that you do not have to be in California right now, as so many cases

of covid 19, that  lots of places have no space left in their hospitals for anyone and lots

of patients are in the hallways, sick.  It is scary, and a nurse said it was like a slow moving

tragedy. She was pretty stressed and scared by it all.  No count downs in many places, limited

access even in New York, this year.  Oh well we can all be happy to be alive, and maybe enjoy

next New Years, or 2022 New Years.
