Has he just woken up!  This was proposed and accepted months ago!  In fact it is already in situ according to yesterday's article on ASQs!  https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1201171-what-to-expect-at-asq-hotels-in-thailand/

"Golfers looking to tee up golf quarantine in Thailand, and who have all their advance arrangements in good order, will be allowed to undergo quarantine at an ASQ golf course hotel. During the mandatory quarantine period, foreign golfers are allowed to enjoy a round of golf and other health-related activities at the course on their personal expense account."

I am not aware of any ASQ golf course hotel where you really are able to play golf during quarantine, not did I find anything on the net. Can you name me one ASQ golf course hotel now operating?

14 days in a massage parlour and take as many samples as necessary.

Looks like that stv took off like a rocket, 1000 people, praise be.

I know just the man to promote this latest “idea” he’ll be looking for a job with accommodation supplied in a weeks time.

Creative but not logical thinking.....infected golfers can pass on the virus to other golfers, staff and caddies. Then there's the risk of room "visitors " passing on the virus to the outside community, or in the case of caddies/hotel staff, sharing it around among themselves. Then there's the drunkenness aspect.....Good luck Thailand, you're going to need it, with these nobs in charge.....!!

Why not then returning Thais and long-term foreign visa holders be able to quarantine at their immigration registered place of residence?

But of course nobody makes any money for home quarantine.

Around the hotel.... what a funny days  ????

As already mentioned who comes up with these ideas

Until there is a vaccine  and no Quarantine

why not just stick with 4 day holidays a month for the Domestic tourist seems to work

Please, stop making sense!

Logic does not seem to be a strong skill with Thais. What percentage of tourists are golfers? And what percentage of tourists who play golf want to play here?

The golf courses here are reasonably good, but they are not in the same class as Scotland, Ireland, the USA and the Melbourne and Peninsula sand belt. For what one gets, they are quite expensive.

IMO they would do better targeting sex tourism, but they are not allowed to say that.

And sod the staff who will be exposed to this 'risk' every single day, right? Or do they 1. get the choice of whether or not they want to take the risk and, 2. danger money if they do?

Madness.

"It's rhetorical, Baldrick."

"Nah, it's a potato."

This might be helpful to attract 5,000 to 10,000 foreign tourists a month. Maybe if the green fees were free. Pipat, you blazing genius, this will not save your nation from catastrophic economic ruin. The only tourism plan which will work, will be once requiring vaccines and testing, NOT quarantine. You guys just do not get that?

Already forgotten you brilliant Chinese tourism plan? The one that attracted only a thousand tourists over several weeks time? I wish I could break down this one idea to the guys in charge here. Thailand needs the world 10x more, than the world needs Thailand.

If they had staff involved, they would have to be tested also.

Some of these courses have caddie/staff apartments so if they did not leave the property and were tested it could work.

It would all have to be done in a "bubble" type configuration.

Great idea but logistically, not sure .

Would I be correct in assuming the minister owns a golf course or two?

As i said a while ago , must be the minister and lots of high-so friends of his owning golfcourses because they are realy pushing these golfcourse discount packages in your throat and pushing people to play golf and golf quarantine etc . Golfquarantine 8 big projects to be restarted , submarines , space projects , high speed trains . Don't they have other prioraties like taking care of all those people without jobs , people loosing their businesses , starving families ??

Thai minister proposes 'golf quarantine' to boost tourism

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand’s Tourism Minister said on Monday he had proposed a plan to allow foreigners to quarantine in some of the country’s many golf resorts to boost the ailing tourism sector during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are discussing with the Public Health Ministry and the country’s coronavirus taskforce to offer hotel and golf quarantine for tourists with medical certificates,” Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn told reporters.

Foreign tourists would be able to spend the two-week quarantine period at a specified resort and move around in the hotel area and also play golf, he said, rather than just isolating in their rooms.

The plan, which is subject to the approval of the cabinet, comes as the Southeast Asian country grapples with a second wave of coronavirus infections after managing to largely contain community spread for months.

Thailand has reported a relatively low 10,834 COVID-19 infections and 67 deaths, though since several clusters emerged in December the country has been recording several hundred new cases a day.

Thailand attracted 40 million tourists in 2019 who spent 1.91 trillion baht ($63.4 billion), but the number of visitors dived during the pandemic after its borders were sealed, devastating hotels, restaurants and tourist spots that relied on foreigner visitors.

A special visa scheme that was started last year for long stay visitors has attracted about 1,000 visitors, Phiphat said.

Trump escape route?

I know quite a few people that come here to play golf, at least that's what they tell their wives. Without the nightlife, they're not coming.

I've got three words for this Looney Tune- <deleted>?

All unwanted and not tax paying business. Disease spreading filth. The only high rollers are the Chinese. One casino in Macau makes more than 6 in the U.S. Bar stool farang will be booted later. Golf brings wealthy good people. Some invest in business. Nobody has any interest in promoting hookers

Listen up G.O.T. Tourists, quality or otherwise, are not coming back until there is no need to quarantine. Just accept it. You cannot have your cake and eat it...simple!

I paid quarantine along with many that will follow. Only silly people believe they can travel because they say. I don't need quarantine mad people. No tourists would enter the AU without quarantine even during early stages of vaccine. It's the poor with no money that complain about paying a hotel. The Chinese don't care they don't look at time

and lots of money.

Every bit counts. Lots of business done at golf clubs. Smart move especially for Prayut as a course owner. Unfortunately

Wonder what happens if an inmate tests positive. Do they stop them playing?

Nah, just a two shot penalty! .....see what I did there?.....

It's actually a really good logical idea to get around this quarantine nonsense , people are really suffering and we need to get tourists back in some form or another .

This is a virus , it needs to be lived " with " here in Thailand we've done that well and nothing has changed in the past few weeks ,  it's time to start looking at ways around this quarantine debarkle and firmly get on with life .

Get all open and trading , all the employment that goes with it . But we can't carry on with dear mongering , if you wish to isolate , you can ..BH CHOICE .

Let's hope that the idea proceeds ..
