Chiang Mai provincial police chief Pol Maj-Gen Phichet Jeeranantasin was informed by his colleagues at the Jom Thong station of a robbery from an ATM machine in their jurisdiction.

The theft occurred at the SCB branch on the Chiang Mai to Hot Road in Khuang Pao sub-district.

The branch has been closed since July of last year but ATMs remain in operation beneath the property.

The thief or thieves had gained entry via a louver window and got access to the area behind the ATMs. They then used cutting equipment.

It is believed they broke in on Wednesday. The day before 6.2 million baht had been put in two ATMs.

The theft has been assessed as 2.1 million baht.

Police believe there are two or more robbers who knew the area and loading of money well.

They were barefoot and left their footprints all over the place.

Forensic teams were busy collecting evidence yesterday with the hope that CCTV would throw up some leads.

Surely done in an effort to baffle the police and prolong the mulling stage before the inevitable swooping.

Will we see stop-checks and the police interesting in examining peoples' feet?

That could be rather demeaning for the police.

It's a matter of time, and they need this also in your passport.

Well obviously not Sherlock , if they were that smart, wouldn't they have waited until the following day , when the 6.2 million baht was put in ?

Look at the photo of the damaged ATM.  Do you think that anybody would put money into it?

Are you here today or did you leave?

The culprits are most likely to be found in the local karaoke splashing the cash ..
