dlclark97
As the most important figure in the world of politics, ex President Trump failed the country. Of all people who needed to 'lead by example', Trump failed miserably in his response to the COVID pandemic when social distancing and wearing of masks could have helped control at least some of the infections and that resulted in 100's of thousands of needless deaths and in inciting the post election riots. His actions leading up to and after the election were not in any way presidential but, in fact gave new meaning to 'dirty politics'. Hopefully these failings will be remembered in 2024. If he is to become the leader of the RNC, their future is doomed from the start. So far, I am not impressed with President Biden or the Democratic political party either. In a few short weeks the stock market is in turmoil, he cancelled the pipeline as it would supposedly damage the environment but the alternates to transport the oil anyway will be even more damaging to the environment and so much more. I do agree with his decision to not subsidize student loan payments. These were adults who new the consequences of borrowing money. And, what about the many struggling to meet their mortgage and other payments? Where do you draw the line? Like Trump was, I feel that the next President should be a strong business leader but one who would listen to and act on the advice of his expert team of advisors and also not be a professional politician with close ties to special interest groups. 1

If he represents the future of the (R) Party, we can safely assume that Party goes the way of the Know Nothings, the Whigs, and other extinct American political Parties. This is what the Republican Party has become....a party of conspiracy theories who celebrates losing. Trump is the rightful leader because no one knows more about losing than the Donald. 8 1
Popular Post OneMoreFarang
And people still support the guy who's supporters wanted to kill his vice-president and senators. Why is he not in jail? Please don't compare any banana republic with that. Popular Post Walker88
The former Comms Chief in the previous Administration, Anthony Scaramucci, who held the position for 11 days, says the reason the former guy wants to stay atop the Party is because it is the most money he has ever made. The Mooch's three word slogan, which is appropriate given that the former guy is wont to use three-word slogans, is "Fleece the Rubes". Just as happened when the slush fund was set up to 'contest the election', but had small print that said, "Only contributions above $5000 will be used toward legal efforts to investigate the election", a big pool of funds from small contributors is now being used by the former guy for purely personal purposes. Those small contributions are funding the former-guy's lifestyle, so The Mooch saying 'Fleece the Rubes' is spot on. Organizations are poorly defined, so anything set up to take in contributions has no more legal oversight than a GoFundMe campaign. The former guy can set up a fund to which folks can contribute, and if he wants can buy a Bugatti Chiron or Gulfstream 650. Fleece the Rubes, indeed. Also, getting in the former guy's orbit also is rewarding, as Axios is reporting that CPAC Chief matt schlapp took in 'consulting fees' of $750,000 in the last two weeks of the previous Administration trying to get pardons. That money was not well spent, as schlapp was unable to get any pardon for anyone who paid him. I doubt it matters to him, because the goal was to 'swim in the swamp', which the former guy always barked about draining, when in fact he made it much larger and gave K Street lobbyists their best 4 years ever. 11

"Fleece the rubes"....5555, so appropriate. You have to hand it to Trump, he knows how to monetize this sick adoration of his rube supporters. I recall right after the election, when his campaign was badly in debt. If he had simply said he lost and requested money to pay off his debt, he would have raised next to nothing. But by claiming that the election was stolen and he needed money to fight "the steal," he was able to raise millions. And now he's teasing the rubes again with his 2024 run....real or not, who knows. When it comes to fleecing his supporters, no one comes close to khun Trump.
Popular Post Morch
Some posters on here say this is good for the Democrats. Maybe so, might be he'll pull off another elections surprise a few years down the line. It all depends on how Biden's presidency will fare, and what things will look like when the game is on. Whatever happens or being said now is fluff. That aside, even if Trump's standing in the Republican Party, or his candidacy are good for the Democrats, they sure aren't good for the country as a whole. How does one set about bridging rifts, "healing" or whatever, with an opposition dancing to the tune of a madman? Second time this week I'm resorting to Elvis Costello: Brilliant Mistake / Elvis Costello He thought he was the King of America Where they pour Coca Cola just like vintage wine Now I try hard not to become hysterical But I'm not sure if I am laughing or crying I wish that I could push a button And talk in the past and not the present tense And watch this hurtin' feeling disappear Like it was common sense It was a fine idea at the time Now it's a brilliant mistake

Dems can breathe easier in 2022 and 2024. Trump lost the 2016 popular votes, House, Senate and the White House. Lost Georgia senate race because he intervened in the election. Warning lights are flashing loudly that Trump is a losing proposition for the party. Even the CPAC straw poll of only 55% respondents for Trump in a hypothetical 2024 primary is a very poor number and sharp declined pre Jan 6. Everything that he touches will eventually die. 5
