A new movie is about to be made by Hollywood, about the 2018 cave rescue in Chiang Rai.

The movie will be directed by Ron Howard and has many big names attached to it...

I put myself forward for a part as 1 of the divers, but they said sorry not that kind of diver required.????

That's one movie I will sadly miss. I'm shocked Ron is interested to direct it but they put pressure on him and he caved in.

Holds no interest for me, its a shame they couldnt film it in Thailand and at least come closer to the real thing.

Thailand is a fool to itself sometimes with their attitudes. Missed out on a huge opportunity there. (IMHO)

There are documentaries on Youtube  of the real events, with the real people , with the real " atmostphere "  ; what American actors have to do with this story ? 

may be interesting, but just a movie , without the real emotion : we know the end already

If you remember the tight control the government but on the 12 boys after they were rescued.  They dictated every media contact  and kept them away from all outside news/movie making companies wanting to pay for their stores.  This belongs to Thailand only was the goal. 

So no way this can be made here. They would rewrite the script and edit the hell out of it to conform to Thailand ideas.

I would be surprised if many or  if any people on here on Thai visa have not heard of the cave rescue 

But there are people in other parts of the World who may not have

Ron Howard is a good film producer and knows this will be a money winner

You are correct. Just think if the Thai authorities had been more ''open'' about this and allowed international involvement after the rescue, everyone would have won, including Thailand.

There was a rather  dishy American female army  officer  If I remember correctly.

So it has cheerleaders, the I am better then you attitude main character, an oversized neighbor, trigger happy rednecks , an alien in a rubber suit in a forest, prom night and the line "I have to protect my family" and of course marvel super capybara man.

I can't wait....

  I am certain  someone in Thailand will be offended when this is released.

The control  wasn't such a bad thing. It protected the children from being exploited, and minimized   the potential for PTSD.  Did  the children really need media interviews?

As in most US made films, USA is the hero. even when USA was nowhere to be found, Americans will say they were there, saving the world.

Do you not think that Hollywood will edit history?

From what I recall,the rescuers were regular normal human beings performing a specialist task they had great experience in. They weren't the super beautiful Hollywood types mentioned in the article.

Musk was so unimpressed with the heroes appearance that he resorted to rather expensive name calling, which would certainly not happened if the guys looked like Farrell or Mortenson.

Personally I don't have a problem with how the kids were "treated" by the authorities. There is something comforting that they haven't been in the media spotlight and appear to be getting on with their lives without any circus following them.

Too bad.  Ron Howard is one of the biggest hack directors in Hollywood making simplistic, formulaic movies every time.  He should have stayed in Mayberry.

I was picked to be the hero and was close to landing the role............. but true to form I lost

my cool and told them where to shove that submarine .
