Sukhumvit Soi 4 Road Construction and Makkasan Rail Link

Would someone please tell me if there is still road construction on Sukhumvit Soi 4?    During my last visit there was roadwork which prevented vehicles from going from the beginning to end of Soi 4.

Alternatively, I can take a cab from Makkasan Rail Link down Asoke and turn at Banjakitti Park and take the road parallel to the bike path and enter Soi 4 from the other end.  Anyone know the name of the road?  But it would require a right turn off Rachadaphisek (Asoke continuation) and I don't know if there is a light there where the cab can turn.  I've never been this way before.

There's no vehicle access from that end of Soi4, IIRC.  Where are you trying to get to?

Alt UHG on Soi 2 but needs to be accessed from Soi 4

If it's during the day, the best bet might have been to get dropped off at the back of Building 2 where the pool is.  There is a gate there that'll let you through to the front, then round the corner to the main building.  I think it gets locked at night.

However a mate stayed there last weekend and got the hotel tuk tuk down Soi 4 then onto Soi 6, so if there are still works going on they're past that point and you can get in from there.

Back gate on Google street view.

Do you know if the Nana Hotel on Soi 4 is open?

It also remained open throughout most of last year when many were closed, so the chances are definitely high, unless you know something more recent than last week?

Soi 4 works just finished. New water tunnel underground is completed. Even the pump engines have been removed. New tarmac and surface painting.

Even when the soi was closed (at night or a few days during the day in the past 3 years) one could go though the Monopoly from the Soi parallel to the motorway past Soi 2  or through Rajah Hotel parking on Soi 2 if the block was before the Novotel.

Can turn left after Soi Cowboy at Asok Sukhumvit, past soi 2 with Mariott then turn left before the rail tracks in Soi Phithak (watch out early morning is closed as one way from motorway). 300mt after Parinda hotel,  there is the entrance of former Monopoly (Rong yai suup), it's open nowadays (at least daytime) to enter to Soi 4 from the south.

Came back to say my previous post is now out of date and that end of Soi 4 is now open.  I think this is the entrance leading to it?

Soi 4 road work is completed. However, they occasionally come back for touch-ups. Alt Nana gate is usually closed when I am walking around there. Off that same road (parallel to the bike lane) is entrance to the tobacco factory which opens the gates during peak hours, morning and afternoon. They also open them when soi 4 entrance is closed at night. That will take you to the backside of Soi 4.

Another route is to take soi 2 and cross to soi 4 at the Raja car park. Cost 20 bht.

Thanks. I have asked this question several times and yours is the first answer.

This hotel is NOT on Sukhumvit Soi 2.

It is on Sukhumvit Soi 4, Yaek 2 (AKA Soi Ulit, at the Woraburi Hotel).

Just come down Ratchadapisek Road, turn right at Sukhumvit, turn left at Sukhumvit Soi 4, proceed down ~ 1 Km, turn right at the Woraburi, turn left, ALT is on the left at the next T.

Or come down Ratchadapisek Road, turn right at Petchaburi Road, turn left on Sukhumvit Soi 3, shoot across Sukhumvit Road to Sukhumvit Soi 4, follow directions as posted above from there.

Construction on Soi 4 seems complete, but you never know. All of the temporary road coverings have been replaced with more permanent (one hopes) pavement. Over the past few months one lane has been closed, north of Soi 6 to Sukhumvit Road, a few times. Construction limited to Sundays, again over the last few months. If there's a cave-in all bets are off.

Right now there is no road work whatsoever on Soi 4.   Smooth sailing. Just stayed at Alt Nana for 3 nights.

Took a stroll on the dirt road by the factory and the gate to the park was locked.

Last trip there about 6 months ago there was no way a taxi could get there at night and it was raining cats and dogs.

Next trip if I see construction will inquire about the gate by the second building on the road parallel to the highway.
