PHUKET: The search for the crocodile seen near the Chalong Marina last weekend continues, with efforts now shifting to Rawai, Nai Harn and Yanui on Phuket’s southwest coast.

The ‘Kraithong Lumnamtapi’ team of expert croc catchers from the Department of Fisheries in Surat Thani are now using whatever cameras are available along the coast to help them with their search.

The team on Friday (Mar 19) also briefed lifeguards at Nai Harn and Yanui on what to look for when searching for the croc.

A crocodile ?

They can have my old camera which I used to take snaps with.????

This is a bit like Deja vu all over again.

A few years ago some people were panicking and hysterically trying to close all the beaches in the Province because one small crocodile was moving up the West coast.

If people are terrified about setting foot in the ocean thinking they will be taken by a croc be advised the chances of that happening in Thailand is close to nil. You're much more likely to be killed by a shark, a box jellyfish or most dangerous of all, a Thai boat driver.

However, if you want to swim in a creek in some parts of northern Australia it could be a different matter.

(If my nik inspires you to make what you think is a funny quip, it's all been said before)

Hang on........people can get deported or fined / put in prison for touching a sea cucumber but catching a crocodile and putting it into a croc meat and handbag farm is ok?

Crocodiles are native animals here.  Lot more chance of getting bitten by a street dog or ran down by a drunk driver than being attacked by this crocodile.  I say leave the poor thing alone.
