Thailand's chief of immigration Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang gave details to Daily News of the latest actions against illegal migrants sneaking into Thailand for work and fraudulent activity.

Speaking at IB HQ yesterday Sompong said that Amree, 27, and Abidi, 34, were stopped at a checkpoint near the Khon Mafeuang border post in Naratiwas in the far south of Thailand along with four Malaysians.

They had all sneaked across the Sungei Kolok river into Thailand then had stayed at a house in Takbai district. Two more illegals were found at a house belonging to a woman called Kayong.

A Thai agent working out of Bang Saphan in Prachuap Khirikhan is under investigation. The illegals were heading for Hat Yai.

In Surat Thani a van with six Myanmar nationals was stopped. These had also crossed the Sungei Kolok river illegally and were on their way to Samut Sakhon (the scene of a big outbreak of Covid at the shrimp market there that sparked Thailand's second wave).

In a related incident "Ton" and "JIap" were arrested for transporting 8 migrants from Krabi. They received 10,000 baht from "Poo" who was now also in custody.

Complaints from the public about two monks moving about Thailand were also received and led to the arrest of Cambodian nationals Theuan, 40 and Sop, aged 53.

They had sneaked over in Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaeo province, then moved about illegally collecting alms posing as monks.

They had no passports and are now in the hands of the Thung Song police in Surat Thani after also being in Trang further south.

Yes, the Thais level of greed and corruption will ensure a steady supply of potential covid illegals entering the country, such is their love for the homeland.

We have this same problem in Texas.  We call them wetbacks.  I think Thailand has cowboys or rangers also they can send down to the river take care of this problem.
