Will just wait until January. It's easier.

That's 9 months away. 7 day quarantine is doable.

I could see many planning their trips already.

The Big Questions?  " When all lockdown is lifted " Does Lifting include the need to apply for a C.O.E. at Thai Consulate, will you still need the medical insurance?

You need medical insurance if you don't have any. Many stories about people going belly up in Thailand without insurance.

A assume you are referring to the 14 or 10 or 7 day quarantine. Even if that is not required I suspect that you will still need a certificate of entry and a covid 19 test for some time afterwards.

Why?  I've been here 15 years hold a IMM-O it has never been required prior to the pandemic regardless of " stories about people going belly "  when I first arrived I purchased and carried it never use it thank god but at a certain age the premium for health insurance keep raising to a point now the cost doesn't justify the coverage.  I have funds necessary to cover my application each year for my extension plus another 10 M in the Thai bank to cover my medical.

Recently they passed a bill to add a fee to flight tickets for two purpose tourism and medical for visitors where is that money going in the future? When the country opens up are they going to require insurance for everyone who steps foot into Thailand?

When they say " everything lifted January 2022 "  I take maybe one or two trips back to the States to take care of personal business for my family the stays are max 14 days. I'm in and out!

I have no problem obtaining certification of being vaccine, taking test before I leave and returning but dealing and waiting for the Thai Embassy for a timely response is always a big ?, which could and would delay one return reservation then the require insurance to return which was never in place prior to the pandemic is unreasonable and just a big scam in my opinion.  They required 100,000 USD coverage for a year a guy my age that rounds out to 4000 USD for a year to match my extension. Here now I got a Covid policy for a year 100,000 baht coverage for no more than 1500 baht the numbers makes no sense to me.

Thanks UJ

Why would you need it for a year. It is only required for your length of stay in the country you will get when you enter the country. At this time a year of coverage for the covid 19 insurance is 23,040 baht.

From my understand!  correct me if I'm wrong.  My renewal for my extension is always on January 20th, the necessary trips are done majority of the time Feb around Chinese New Year, taxes for myself and the number of Trust I handle. As noted my trips are two week if not shorter so when I return since I have an extension renewal again 11 months the coverage will be for that period not a year but close.  Plus when I return I don't want to delay with even a day dealing with the Thai Embassy for a COE?

If you are correct with the insurance but the two I've been quoted for my age 69-70  for 100,000 USD coverage 140 Baht  from the U.S. AXA, Pacific Cross. But I will check out your provided website and cross my fingers! I can do that amount easily 23?  Thanks

It would be approximately 11 months. But is hard to predict what will be needed next February.

You can apply for the certificate of entry as soon as your arrive in the US (at this time). No delay waiting for the COE if required next year.

You have to be sure any covid 19 insurance you get starts from the day you enter the country and it will cover hospitalization with not symptoms.

The insurance on the site I mentioned meets all of the requirements.

I guess if you can buy the hospital my comment does not apply. Sorry!

I think a lot of tourists will just wait until January 2022 to come to Thailand under these guidelines.  Or they might just give Thailand a miss and go elsewhere.

Great values all over Thailand. Hotels are suffering and they are in survival mode until the "high season" come end of this year or early next year. Or at least they are hoping.

I think you're right. Vast majority don't want to deal with COE, Covid insurance, limited flights with higher prices, restrictions, etc.

There appears to be some hotels in Bangkok, but isn't Bangkok excluded from the provinces where the 7-day quarantine is currently allowed?

It can for anywhere for the 7 day quarantine for those that have been vaccinated.

The medical clearance is a whole new level of hassle. Getting a bunch of medical tests for TB etc, and waiting for results on that...Ugh. Even when I needed these for work in the past it was a hassle to do.

Hello Good People,

I'm gathering info on my coming retirement in 12 months and many expats and vloggers tell me to visit the Thailand Embassy website for the latest information.  When I do a search I get several hits, none look very official.

https://thaiconsulatela.org/
https://thaiembdc.org/
https://www.thaiembassy.com/

Being former military I'd expect it to end in something that looks like .th.gov but that is wishful thinking.  Can anyone point me to the correct url?  I'm currently near Dallas TX.

The embassy in Washington DC website is the best place to start.  https://thaiembdc.org/

The one is not a official website so best to stay away from it. https://www.thaiembassy.com/
