Real numbers from Ministry of Public Health are here, as per end of July (image from the pinned thread about vaccination on the islands)...

With the estimate of 120.000 people on Samui - i.e. (in rounded numbers) 60,000 registered inhabitants; 30,000 registered Thai workers, migrants workers and foreigners; and approx 30,000 unregistered people including workers and tourists - the fully vaccinated with 2 jabs (Sinovac) are about 45 percent, and vaccinated with at least one jab (29,000 1-jabs probably all AZ) are around 69 percent...????

Whatever the figures, that is not a primary source.

Ministry of Public Health is the source, as it clearly says; what is a primary source in your view?

There are now "urgent measures" being introduced on Samui and KPN to control Covid 19. This was issued by the governor of Suratthani, Aug 7th.

Convenience stores and restaurants must be closed from 11:00 PM - 4:00 AM.

Alcohol is prohibited, a maximum of 5 people per table.

10th August +10 on Samui...
An explanation of the increased number of Covid-positive could be that some people, who tested negative right after the Black Bamboo cluster emerged, have been asked to be tested again after two weeks.

Interesting that there are quite a few people in a field hospital...I didn't know that there is a field hospital in Samui. Looks like the Thais are not getting dispatched to the private hospitals. Is there a choice of a hospital if one gets tested positive? Can a foreigner choose the field hospital?

I do not know the answer to that question but tonight I heard that a friend of a friend has Covid.

No sense of taste or smell and positive on a rapid test. No other symptoms.

However, she will not go to a hospital or see a doctor as she is a single mum with a child. If she went to a hospital or even a hospitel, then they would probably be separated.

The child is negative - for now.

She is self isolating but......

Be careful people.

The field hospital (or hospitel) that I know of, is down in Lamai.

Without wishing to sound factious, probably whatever they think they can get away with, if you have high end insurance you might find yourself in the Four Seasons (once you've had your nasal passages pillaged multiple times) , if you're paying your own way without insurance then a tent at the bottom of someone's garden is more likely ????

KhunPer. Do you know what is the Durian Cluster? Not seen that one before?

There are many people selling Durian off the back of pick up trucks around the island at the moment. Would be good to know where to avoid. The GF is always buying it. ????

Please remember that there are more cases on the island that are not going to the hospitals.

Some people are self testing (positive) and then self isolating. Whether that is 100% self isolation is the question.

Take care and stay safe. ????????
